The Premier League 11 point watch 2022-2023 edition

I don't think 12pts will be too difficult to get but I do fear for us in general. I'm just struggling to see 3 worse teams than us as things stand.

I'm reserving judgement until the squad starts to gel and the new arrivals earn Cooper's trust.
It's all to unsettled to know what things will actually look like so far.
This unexpected mini-break should help.

There aren't any.

The level of shock in that statement depends on how fast we should be hitting the ground running given the scale of recruitment.

Coopers adaptability has been flawless so far, do we reckon he;ll fashion something out of what he's got to keep us up? I do. Be close mind.

We have collectively had to have a sharp intake of breath at the sheer step up to be even a bottom half of the table team.

Survival is very much in the balance in my mind, but let us still enjoy the journey.

I hope so. This must be what it feels like to follow an NFL team as we've essentially been part of a draft and selected a brand new squad of players.

This season Cooper has one of the toughest jobs in the game for me. Keeping a squad of 25 strangers happy and motivated, whilst picking the right XI and tactics to earn enough points and keep the fans and more importantly an impatient owner off his case. It doesn't get much tougher and the PL takes no prisoners.

If we don't get better than that in possession of the ball, it's the lowest goals tally we might need to be worried about, jointly owned by Derby (but yeah playing 3 defensive midfielders does perhaps make it less likely we trouble the highest goals conceded tally, which for a 38 game season is also Derby's currently)

We were sooo bad in possession of the ball last night (but I accept a point towards our total, and the aim of staying up let alone getting to 12, is at least something, even if against an out of form Villa team so in effect one of the less difficult ones at the moment).

We've got to be better than that after spending so much, so I'm putting it largely down to nervousness (from manager and players alike), but I don't think playing like that will get us survival anyway. We'll not know if we'd played a more positive line-up and/or managed to find a red shirt when we had the opportunity much more often whether we'd got a point out of the game anyway, but ok it's one game on the back of a 4-0 loss to Leicester, but I'm just saying it's neither the way to entertain or to pick up many points going forwards IMHO.

Things might be a bit gloomy, but I still can't get used to having the spotlight on the club. I'm used to things happening at the CG and the world just grunting in acknowledgement and carrying on with more important stuff.

Now we're in the Prem, every little move is noted and commented on. It's mental, but so much fun.

We're in the Premier League; to say that was on my bucket list before I go, and I did it. Still got the FA Cup to win, but that might take a bit longer.

Life actually is pretty good. Not perfect, but then, what is?

if we don’t improve very soon we might trouble the record.

Next time we play Derby it can be the worst teams in history derby.

Every season there's always a club who has ~5 points after 10 games (usually it's Norwich). Every season someone always suggests the record will be broken this year.

Inevitably it never falls because the record is *SO BAD* that it will never be beaten. We need 2 wins and a draw from 28 games to beat 11 points. We'll do that even if our performances get no better than they are currently. We'll just fluke a result every 9 games.

I still think we should get 11. We probably will get relegated and probably won't win many but we have played 10 and have 5 points, we need 7 draws, or 1 win and 4 draws, etc etc to manage it.

We have shown signs in matches that we can get into winnable positions and if we can be more solid at the back when we are (and actually come back more from losing positions) then we should start turning some losses into draws.

Interesting fact just announced on TV: we have 1 point less than Derby did at this point during their 11 point season… 🫣

They did win their game quite early on under Davies though didn't they? It's that they didn't tick over with draws and wins occasionally like most teams do.

Every year at this time a team seems to compare as bad as them but still manage to get over 11 points.

We have 6 now so half way there, with much less than half the season gone, and with noticeable signs of improvement in terms of being less easy to break down in terms of attempts and goals.

There is a reason why even the bottom finishing teams don't come close to this record most years, and that most teams pass it just after Christmas.

Two wins from 27 now.

No bother. We might finish on <20 points but we''ll top 11.
