The Joe Lolley Retirement

Surprised he's not moved to the Championship. Thought maybe Sunderland might be on the cards.

He will smash that League.

I’m not sure he’s up to a gruelling Championship season anymore.
All the best Joe and thanks for the memories-your goal in the 5-5 draw at Aston Villa will live long in the
minds of Forest supporters who made the trip that night.

North East England or Sydney, Australia… hmm
He's 29 so would have had another team/contract after a 2-3 year stint somewhere. Moving to Australia ends his career right here right now.

Well said. He was immense in that game . . . . didn't he assist/have a very direct hand in all the other 4 goals as well as his screamer?

Good luck to you, Joe. You were very much the sort of player I wanted to see at Forest and I believe you can go with your head held high; it's a shame it ended on a bit of a sour (unknown) note. All the best to you in Oz and I hope you can enjoy the remainder of your footballing career with success and without injury.

Nearly as upset as he clearly was after he missed his pen in the shootout. Lit up the pitch when he was at his best for us. Thanks for all your effort and good luck for the future Joe!

I wonder if it is semi-retirement in his mind. He's a clever lad, already has a degree (in Sports Science I think) and possibly knows that he could do himself some serious damage if he keeps pushing himself at a very competitive level. Wouldn't surprise me if he does his coaching badges over there and retires at 31/32 and then comes back to England to concentrate on management/coaching.

There can't be too many games in a season in Australia so I doubt he'll be playing many midweek fixtures if any at all, so that should hopefully be a welcome relief if he's still struggling with any long-term physical issues. He'll look brilliant at that level for a couple of years and like you say I imagine he'll definitely be involved in football in a coaching / managerial capacity someday.

I wish him all the best with whatever he does in the future. He was the main man here for a couple of otherwise very average years, and by all accounts is a decent guy off the pitch too.

One of the good guys.

Smart enough, I'm sure, to have invested enough of his wages so that he doesn't need to play any longer than he wants to.

He was the bright spark for quite a while.

We've moved on.

Hope Garibaldi Red get an interview with him again. Would love to hear his view on the last crazy year.

Can’t argue with that choice. I’ve always played the ‘which five clubs would you choose?’ game where you choose where you’d play if you were a top class player. Milan, Paris, Barcelona, London, Amsterdam, Munich, Monaco etc.

Sydney is a great shout for a last chance saloon similar type game. Sydney, somewhere in America, Como etc.

Have a great next career my old Wi-Fi name legend. Ciao.

For me, good for a while but not good enough in last couple of seasons and defo not premiership. Nice guy and good luck to him down under if that is where he goes. If he does, it will certainly be a great adventure for him and his family and he will get to enjoy a few pints of "VB"

There’s 12 teams in the A-League, but they have some weird arrangement where each team plays some sides twice and others 3 times…so 26 regular season games then they have a play-off for the top 6 sides as well - so a maximum of 29 season games from October to May - so yeah, not a packed schedule.

Somewhat sad to see him leave, a genuinely decent bloke and a big contribution to Forest over recent seasons. Such a shame for him that injuries hobbled him so much, preventing him from maybe having a crack at the top level.

Good luck to him anyway, DAZN sometimes has the A-League on, if I am up (and sometimes I am) I might tune-in and see how he’s doing.
