The Joe Lolley Retirement

Rzar

Bob McKinlay
I think he will be at his best as a #10 in a 3-4-3

He looks fresh which he hasn't done for years now. I really hope we see a revitalization of his career here because at his best he is pure quality.

I think that actually not forcing himself to play more minutes than he needs to has helped him regain his fitness here.

He ran fast and moved well today and against QPR but until he sticks one in the onion bag or has more than one goal contribution this season I'm not going to be jumping on the Lolley's back band-wagon.

He's got a couple months left to prove that he has a future at the club, that's the reality of it. Out of contract next summer. If we go up, he's probably not good enough for us. If we stay in this league, we have to evaluate if there is perhaps something that could come in that would do his role better.

Grateful for the memories he's given us in the Karanka/Lamouchi seasons but we've had two full meh seasons out of him now.

But he has injury issues - I think they mentioned his knee, and his shin/calf/muscle issues aren't going to go away, it's a chronic thing.

Us having other people in those positions this season has probably saved us having to play a half fit/lacking in confidence Lolley more, than we would have had to do, and we now have plenty of creative players in the side so it's not just reliant on him running at them all match.

Liverpool had some good defenders out there (Not sure why he brought Mighten on because he's nowhere near ready yet) and really it took the absolute top class moments, mainly from Spence and Johnson, to get through which is why they will probably both be PL players next season. I think a few years back Lolley would have been but he wasn't in the team much when scruddies were up and he has the muscle issue which no doubt would concern some in a medical.

Wow. That’s harsh, but not unexpected.

Does sound harsh but I think it'll have been worded a bit better to him. Fee wise, it'll be under a million, tending to zero so he should easily find a club he wants. I suppose i'll have to rename my wifi network again as it was Lollllleyyyyyy.
