Re: Joe Lolley deserves a good ball-cupping

I have never had anything to do with politics in my life never voted and simply not intrested but I have joe on Twitter and he seems a really nice guy if he wants to post about politics it's his choice as much as it's mine in having no intrest in it and I actually don't think he posts that much about it

My posts are easier to understand than that!

Think he means everybody's right to be interested or not.

And that's all I have to say about that

Anyone know when and why Lolley went quiet on Twitter? Assume his forthright views got some unwanted attention.

I assume he left because it was full of bellends.

I actually did a pilot episode of a podcast with Joe about a week before he deactivated his twitter account (I may publish this at some point in the future but I haven't got as much time to invest in it as I thought I did) and he did make a comment that whilst the season was suspended he was more proactive on socials/doing media etc but as soon as the season started up again he wouldn't want to be seen to be concentrating on anything other than his job and the task at hand.

So I don't think it's anything more than that, tbh.

Sad state of affairs when a person can't debate things on social media and do their day job...

I binned him on Twitter a couple of months back , His political views and debates got on my tits tbh , Personally I think he should have stuck with just the football during this stage of his life.
He seems an intelligent guy and I am sure he is a cracking bloke but I didn't want his politics ramming down my throat every minute.
I deleted him and it now looks like he has done the same.

Problem is society is too fractured at the moment and some people on both sides of any argument are too polarised in their views to debate nicely.

I look at it this way when it gets like that then the other person has lost the debate

Looks like Marcus Rashford got it right. he didn't attempt to politicise his request. Joe spent much of his time on Twitter criticising.

I enjoyed Joe's Twitter presence as I'm a Labour voter, but it was clear he was getting frustrated with the experience. I remember just before the election he was urging not to vote for Boris Johnson if you valued the NHS, then got into an argument with a fan who told him to pay more tax if he was unhappy.

Re: Joe Lolley deserves a good ball-cupping

I don't 'do' Twitter and so other than the occasional screenshot on here, I've not seen any of JL's tweets. As with Rashford and a couple of others, I do however find it quite refreshing to hear that a modern-day footballer has viewpoints and opinions beyond that boring, clichè-filled bubble that most of them choose to occupy.

I'm also encouraged that Joe, as a young man in an industry with vast earning potential, appears to share my left-leaning politics.

After 80 minutes yesterday he was still charging around like a mad-man pressing and closing down space.

He looks fit and ready and carrying no ankle issues like he seemed to be this season.

Long may that continue.

Good player. Really good bloke. Humble. Lucky to have him.

Thought he looked back to his best on the half turn yesterday. Seemed to lose absolute control of the ball during his poor spell, but its back on a string.

Great time to be firing again.

Hope he stays fit, will relish taking down tiring fullbacks as the matches come thick and fast.

Definitely back to his best yesterday. Think he'll stay that way too. Key player for me.

Did they say anything on Radio Nottm about the injury which forced Lolley off?
