The Henri Lansbury SuperThread - Sponsored by The Artist Formerly Known As Samuel

Re: The Henri Lansbury SuperThread - Sponsored by Samuel

He was our third best midfielder today. Didn't do much besides score but boy, did he score!

really? Some good touches all through. Some crap also, but certainly not absent from the game and showing some class. I thought the whole team looked tired today, fired up yes but a little under par tbh. (hardly surprising really given the running in recent weeks, boggy pitches etc).

I am as yet undecided as to whether the Int Break will do us good or let momentum drop. Hard to believe it's 3 weeks til our next home game and ther is so few left, this season seems to be almsot gone (but not over!!) so quickly!

I don't think since Earnie has left we have got anybody with a great celebration.

Who gives a crap about goal celebration as long as they continue to keep scoring. Lansbury can stick his tongue out as much as he wants if he scores.

He was winding up the yam yams, therefore I approve!

Would like to hear a Lansbury interview seem. Can't remember him doing one apart from when he signed.

Re: The Henri Lansbury SuperThread - Sponsored by Samuel

Still the only one who doesn't rate him? I just think he's a bit oh a show pony with no substance (sounds daft after he won us the game yesterday). Maybe I'm an idiot

No, you're just not used to seeing anyone doing anything flash in a red shirt, not a Forest red shirt anyway. In fairness he didn't do a lot until the last few games.

Re: The Henri Lansbury SuperThread - Sponsored by Samuel

I was at Charlton and Wolves. I feel like he is lightweight and loses it a lot. Yesterday was typical of his performances but he grabbed two good goals to disguise it.

You been bar working hard, defending well, passing well, scoring goals and having a hand in creating goals.

Some bizarre comments on this thread. The lad scores two goals and he's got no substance? If he ran around a bit more would you like him then? Lansbury looks like one of our most dangerous players around the box if not the most dangerous. He goes in and out of players like its easy at times and is one of them players that can change a game in a moment as he proved yesterday.

And regarding his celebration, god f***ing forbid we have a player that shows a bit of character when he scores. I hardly think he looked 'special' at all, nothing wrong with a player actually celebrating a goal he clearly enjoyed.

....... Can you tell I quite like Lansbury?

I don't think since Earnie left, we've had much to celebrate.

Sadly, if Earnie was still here, we would soon forget his goal celebrations. 'Now what did he used to do when he scored (all those years back)'. As for Lansbury, a month or so back, people on here were falling over themselves to slag off the lad. He has a role and he does it well.

True, who needs flair when you can have lots of players that tackle and run around a lot.

Those that run the national team also seem to labour under this misapprehension, but then they are really good aren't they.

That's how McGugan should be described, not Lansbury. Lansbury is such a top player. Too lightweight? Compared to the other Arsenal academy players he's not. Most Arsenal players are good technically but lack a tenacity. Wishere and Lansbury have both.

Not a smug "told you so post" Weasel, but hopefully you can you now appriciate a bit more why you give young players more than a handful of games to prove themselves.

I'm so glad that we didn't sell him to Milwall it's unreal, and he's still not hit top form IMO.

Damn, I thought that one had slipped under the radar :D

Clearly I was wrong. I don't totally support your theory though. I've seen plenty of these highly rated guys like Lee Martin, Michael Stewart etc come in with their big reputations and I don't think you'd be keen to see that pair given lenghtly runs to prove themselves. Clearly though Lansbury was more of a talent that I realised.

To get myself back in the 'does know what hes talking about' camp, I've been banging on about playing the diamond for weeks as it was always obvious suits our midfielders perfectly. So I'm not totally discredited! (can I get away with that?)

I wouldn't describe Lansbury as lightweight , you can describe Gillett as such but Lansbury is able to compete in tackling. He's not a right midfielder though , the way he plays makes it very obvious.

I like him too. He has real quality and he does also run around a bit and close players down. When was the last time we had two class midfielders like Lansbury and Guedioura in the team? Happy days.

But then reputation and ego then all falls down to how they're managed. True under McClaren, Mcleish or Cotterill I wouldn't fancy the likes of Stewart or Martin. But given a manager like Davies and I reckon they'd have done far better.

Nice save with the diamond shout though

I love him. He can celebrate how he likes, and as often as he likes.

If he's celebrating, it means he's scoring and we're usually winning :)

I want to join the 'I Like Henri Lansbury' crew too! I get the impression he is very well liked within the team, good on SOD for bringing in a "good character" like Lansbury. At 22 years of age and contracted to three more seasons with us, he could be a massive player in the Garibaldi.
