The glorious demise of Manchester United

I think the most telling comment I have heard came from MOTD on ManU TV last night, when Dion dublin said "the players collectively do not play with a smile on their face".
And he was spot on: not a single smile.
Rashford looks like he is suffering from serious depression; Garnacho has anger management issues; Onana seems to have been sent to coventry by his defenders; Varane looks like he is homesick... I could go on!
Forest meanwhile played with a jaunty step, and a lot of smiles.
Even when Turner boobed, the team helped bouy him up.

They have only won the games they have because they have a bit of extra quality which comes from accumulating a squad costing a billion quid. Also I think they have had some ref favours.

On another night last night could have gone differently. We hustled and harrassed them for 90 mins and we’re the better team but they still had more incisive moments that will often get them over the line. Last night both our incisive moments led to goals and some of theirs didn’t.

Unfortunately I think ineos will start to build up the off field structure and give them a better platform for success. So enjoy it…

Out of the two Manchester clubs, I’ve always preferred United.

Back in 58’ Wednesday were the first club to play against them after the Munich air disaster.

United won what was an FA Cup match and Wednesday gained a lot of respect for the way in which they practically allowed them to win the game. For us it was simply a match that we couldn’t win.

That was a different age, and fast forwarding to the current day it’s the worst United team I’ve seen in my lifetime.

At least the early Fergie teams had players like Bryan Robson who fought for the shirt and showed a bit of fight when things were tough.

The current shower are a disgrace. No fight, no bottle and just a bunch of whinging idiots with a manager who can’t lead them.

I think we played in their next game, their first League game post-Munich, and IIRC drew 1-1 away. We also got a lot of respect at the time for our contribution to the game in what would have been very difficult circumstances for all concerned.

It was indeed a different age. Manchester United used to be a lot of people’s (including my father’s) “favourite other team“, due to a combination of admiration for the Busby Babes team, sympathy after the horrors of Munich and the glamour and European success of the Best/Law/Charlton team (in those days fans of other teams generally wanted any British clubs to do well in Europe). That status has clearly largely disappeared as the game has been slanted more and more towards the rich big-city clubs, which much of the media has been only too keen to encourage. I think it said it all when they removed the words “Football Club” from their badge…

Think Ten Haag is going a great job, only 2 less wins than the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal and Man City.
Given what a shit show it is off the pitch I don't know what they expect, if they stick with Ten Haag I think he'll sort them out under Brailsford. So therefore I hope they give in to their idiot fans, sack him and appoint Southgate.

Yesterday I spent some time watching pundits chat about our game against Man U. Not so much our performance, but more the decline of the once mighty team from Manchester.

Actually didn't mind that because it highlighted just how much pain we had inflicted.

I luved it, just luved it!

Always had a natural aversion to Manure.

Apparently, when I was less than a month old, Mum heard me screaming blue murder from downstairs and rushed into the room thinking I was in agony. She'd left the radio on, as she always did, to help soothe me and when she burst in Matt Busby was being interviewed.

Sauce salad?
Have a look at this mess:

In fairness Casimiero looked a hell of a player last year, though he's nothing now. And the rest of that list? 16 players with an average speed of 40m per player, most of whom dont look any better than the ones they replaced, with how many other million pounds worth frozen out.

Keep up the good work...

Yes, but wouldnt you love it if you knew your club's floor level was 7th?
It’s very nuanced though. A Newport fan would look at us and think the same. We do t know we are born as competing for league one play offs is our rock bottom. United are a top 5 global football club nowadays, they have just had their most success period of their history and it has taken some doing to sink as low as they are now. If they were to carry on they probably would fall lower still. But sadly I suspect they will start to improve off field and will give themselves a better platform going forward.
