BBC - "Sepp Blatter has announced he will stand for a fifth term as Fifa president in 2015."

It really shows you how BAD things really now are in the 'once" Beautiful Game! :(

QUOTE "FIFA president Sepp Blatter has admitted the governing body’s decision to award the 2022 World Cup to Qatar was a mistake."

He says it was just a simple mistake that anyone could ave made. Yeh.....right?

Any 8 year old schoolkid could tell you that the summer in Qatar is too f***ing hot for football. Where are FIFA's due diligence studies? In brown envelopes I expect.

The full quote was "FIFA president Sepp Blatter has admitted the governing body’s decision to award the 2022 World Cup to Qatar was a mistake. However, he's confident that the bid to host the 2026 World Cup in Mordor will prove prudent"

It is politics. Blatter has announced he is going to cling on to the FIFA Presidency until he is 452. Platini publicly backed the Qatar bid. It says 'we're all stupid, but Platini is the most stupid of all of us, therefore I'm the best candidate.'

If Platini decides to challenge Blatter, he'll probably exit the 'FIFA family' in disgrace some time before the election anyway when a story of alleged corruption surfaces. Either that, or Grace Jones will pretend to show him where the bathroom is and then turn the steps into a slide and he'll fall straight out of FIFA blimp into the sea.

He's someone I wouldn't normally go out of my way to listen to, but here's a very enlightening, well-researched history lesson/rant from Johnny Vaughan when he stood in for Colin Murray this morning.

Basically, why the four home nation associations have every right to fook FIFA off!

It's 20-minutes into the 11-11.30 slot:

That was an excellent listen. Make you wonder why they haven't done it as I pretty sure the majority of football nations would leave fifa in a shot if they could do it

They'd have no choice if they wanted to play football.

He might be correct about how we gave the game away, I'm not sure how correct he is about how we could just take it back.

Jim Boyce.

"Since I joined Fifa's executive committee in 2011 half of the committee has gone," he said.

"Mr Bin Hammam, who there's been a lot of talk about recently, has been banned for life by Fifa and many of these other people mentioned are no longer at Fifa as well.

"There are a lot of very good people at Fifa and people who are only interested in furthering the game of football. And obviously Fifa don't get enough credit for what they do around the world."

Pfffft. bin Hammam was just was just hung out to dry, like Warner.

The problems in FIFA are large and deep and everyone can see that.....the people at the top either knew what was going on and should go OR they did not know what was going on and have therefore failed abysmally in their duties and responsibilities and should still go.

It wont happen simply because they are unaccountable to anyone.

Are there enough national football associations with the balls and credibility to withdraw from FIFA and form a rival body? Again I doubt it. Also sport has been used as a political weapon for so long I doubt the politicians can or would get involved in sorting FIFA out.
