Bordeaux have given up their professional status, player contracts terminated and facilities closed
That’s tragic news.Bordeaux have given up their professional status, player contracts terminated and facilities closed
Has to be said Gerard Lopez has the reverse midas touch where everything he gets his hands on turns to shit. Failed at Lotus F1, has now completely killed Bordeaux and is in the process of failing with Boavista too (players often not getting paid on time)That’s tragic news.
The club that nurtured players like Zinedine Zidane, effectively going bust.
Modern football, eh? It’s shit.
Bordeaux have filed for bankruptcy and have renounced their professional status. That's it they're gone.
Hopefully they will re-form and return stronger. Les Girondins were an institution in French football. Like Nice and Reims they have suffered since their glory days.Bordeaux have filed for bankruptcy and have renounced their professional status. That's it they're gone.
It's funny, so many of us think affectionally of Parma. What Nevio Scala did there was awesome. However, were they a challenger to us in the Premier League we would be slating them. Their success was build on the Parmalat business wasn't it?Parma are another team who stopped existing but have risen again and will be back in Serie A this year
I have to tell you, the area around there is beautiful and it must be a big draw to go and play there.Speaking of clubs coming back from the dead. I can't believe Varane signed for newly promoted Como. I know he wasn't amazing at Man United but that must simply be a lifestyle decision (can't blame him for that one!) because you feel like that's well below his level.
Como is looking like a lovely old time. Fabregas their new manager. Varane, Belotti, Pepe Reina, Alberto Moreno all amongst their new signings.
I’m stunned at Varane to, I expected him to go to one of the Milan clubs or even PSG as they like to sign a big name. Biggest shock for me is seeing Reina’s name, he’s been around forever.Speaking of clubs coming back from the dead. I can't believe Varane signed for newly promoted Como. I totally disagree on the nails bit i think he was made a hard man in a time when football is essentially for fannys.... he was as much of a play acting cheat as anyone.... compare him to genuine hardmen like Stuart Pearce who broke his leg and tried to run it off.... no way would you see Pearce showing weakness in even showing genuine injury....Well, it’s official, the legend that is Kepler Laveran de Lima Ferreira, or Pepe to his mates, has finally decided to call time on his storied career after over two decades of beating seven shades out of opposing centre forwards.
He’s announced he’s going to form a charitable foundation which will work towards health issues with kids, which is just as wholesome as you’d imagine:
I always like a defender, and Pepe was a favourite of mine, because he was absolute nails.
Tidy finish!OK, I know he's an opponent (not for long, he will almost certainly be sold to Eintracht Frankfurt), but take a bow son:

Does it always start this early? I watched Bayern last night... quite comfortable for them, not sure about the new shirtFirst Round of the German Cup starts today, two early kickoffs, and in one, a shock already on the cards, as second-tier Erzgebirge Aue take an eight-minute lead over Borussia Mönchengladbach, with a superbly worked goal!
