Talking of doing an 8th minute applause tonight on twitter

How embarrassing

I'm going to have a Chinese later so I'm going to applaud on the 7th 15th 23rd 65th and 78th minute

It was aknee injury that ended Brian Clough's playing career.
Perhaps CC will go on and emulate Cloughie if his injury is so bad.

What a shitty thing to happen to a great bloke. If he does pack it in (and the message from his wife doesn't suggest he will) then I hope Forest give him all the support in the world to still make a name for himself in the game.

The fact that he's even trying to come back again shows that he has balls of f***ing granite steel. I bet he didn't even consider retirement for a second, like most of us weaklings would. The guy is an inspiration

Fair play to Cohen for trying to come back again. If the target is May I hope we're in a position where we don't actually need him so that his knee gets a few months of normal, everyday life conditioning before he tries to bring it up to match-fit status again.

When your back get doing your yoga Chrissy, pigeon poses work wonders for the knees and it didn't do Gigg's career any harm.

Good luck to him! He's definitely got the character to come back again. Hopefully he'll take all the time he needs.

Its the third season in a row kid. We shouldnt have rushed him back, but unfortunately its not just the injury, it whats in his head as well. Reckon he will give it one more go, but if it happens again that will be the end of his career.

He has not been rushed back on either occassion. It has been almost year each time, and that is with the benefit of some of the best experts in the country rehabing his knee.

I have read that experts say that the reason ACL's reoccur with no contact much like Cohen on sunday is because athletes come back too soon and don't give the surrounding muscles enough time to strengthen the knee. Like I said in an earlier post multiple acl tears are not that uncommon nowadays across pro sports......Chris will be back I'm certain of it.

That could be a good point. Usually with an ACL reconstruction though, you get back around 90% of what you had before in terms of movement, but it can end up being stronger than it was before in terms of strength.

As someone recovering from ACL reconstruction surgery, I really feel for him to have to go through it for a 3rd time.

Once has been enough to make me consider never going back to play football.

You're seeing that he's been injured again and presuming we rushed him back. I don't think we did. We always took the necessary time and it simply just happened again, this kind of thing reoccurs if you take six months, a year or five years to get them back in. Sadly, Chris' knees are weak and he's genetically predisposed to this kind of injury. Forest handled him well on both occasions, it's just shitty luck.

We do seem to get the worst luck.

This all seems Deja Vu to me..Cohen gets injured, fans plan an applause for the next game, people call it tin-pot. All we need now is a player to bring on a Cohen shirt when we score tonight and it'll be full circle.

Obviously I'm devastated Cohen is injured, but last season we had Moussi/Greening and Majewski to replace him where as this year we have Tesche, Vaughen or Mancienne who can play as a DM, or Fox can too can't he? We have suitable cover, it's just when your captain goes down it's a huge loss to the team morale.

There's no way Cohen will quite yet, he's just not that type of bloke, or Captain. We ought to have a legend banner made for him in the Bridgford Stand.

Our longest serving player, Club Captain, and a genuinely nice guy also.

He'll be back. I'd put money on it.

(Or, as Dexter might say, "I'll have a quid on that!")

CSKA and Russia number 1 Igor Akinfeev has done his Knee ligarment 3/4 times and he came back to play in this years World Cup. So saying he is going to retire is daft, we are in 2014 not 1962 where similar injury finished Cloughie's career.

He's come back from two bad injury's... id say that stands him in good stead to come back from a 3rd.

People are writing him off way too early in my opinion. He can certainly come back from this. There are all sorts of surgery options with different success rates.

For example it could be that he has had cadaver graft which is very common to fail, nearly a quarter of them do, maybe even higher in athletes. A lot of surgeons will still use them because of quicker recovery after the operation and because of the benefit of not having to remove tissue from another part of the body.

If that is the case a ligament from his own body will now likely be used and he will come back as good as new.

We shouldn't write him off without knowing the medical history of his case. I'm pretty sure he has the mental strength to find a way back and he is still young enough to do it.
