In a very dramatic MLS final, LAFC defeated Philadelphia Union 3-3 aet and 3-0 on penalties. In a typical MLS affair there was suspect officiating and even more suspect defending. Banc of California Stadium was packed and loud for this clash between the two #1 seeds who both finished the regular season on equal points. LAFC won the Supporters Shield and the right to host the final based on the league's first tiebreaker of more wins. LAFC were reduced to 10 men in extra time when GK Maxim Crepeau fouled Cory Burke after he had been put through 1-on-1. Philly scored minutes later but LA got their equaliser a minute from the end when Gareth Bale, who had come on in extra time, nodded home from a good cross in 128'. Crepeau's replacement, Jack McCarthy, a Philadelphia native, was huge in the penalty shootout saving two. Highlights:

I think I want to see the highlights of this… well maybe just the last few minutes anyway.

How was it not abandoned? 😂

Palmeiras have won the Brasilero Serie A finishing 8 points clear of Internacional Porto Alegre.
Fluminense, Flamengo, Paranaense, Corinthians join the top 2 in the Libertadores group stage while Atletico Mineiro & Fortaleza join the competition in the qualifying stages.
Botafogo, Sao Paulo, America Mineiro, Santos, Goias & RB Bragantino qualify for the Sudamericana.
Ceara, Atl. Goianense, Avai & Juventude are relegated.
Promoted from Serie B are Cruzeiro, Gremio, Vasco da Gama and Bahia. Some big names there.

Tigres UANL won the Liga MX clausura over Chivas de Guadalajara at the Estadio Akron in Jalisco. After a 0-0 in the home leg, Tigres fell behind 2-0 but came back in the 2nd half with 2 of their own to level things. They then got one in extra time to win it. Wild scenes ensued with the obligatory red cards and Chivas fans lobbing drinks at the Tigres players. Highlights:

I hope it's the last time he gets a managers job personally, he comes across as an arrogant tosser & full on Partridge.

His press conferences recently have been a disgrace. Thinks he's Alex Fergurson, normally when you win the stuff like Fergie has you can get snappy with people.

When it comes to football, Phil Neville is more Rebecca Ferguson than Sir Alex Ferguson.

CONCACAF champions league final, 1st leg in Leon the home side beat LAFC 2-1. Leon had a goal chalked off near the end that would have made it 3-0 but LA got a goal with the last kick of the game to make it 2-1. Return leg is Sunday.

Leon win the CONCACAF Champions League with a 0-1 win in LA, 3-1 on aggregate. Due to not qualifying for the Mexican clausura playoff, Leon had not played for 3 weeks heading into this tie. LAFC were awful in the final third, so much so that they subbed out their star Carlos Vela after an hour. Strange tactics from the home side as well starting with 3 at the back (normally play 4-3-3) with some suspect defenders. Leon thoroughly outplayed them though.
