Yes, I would imagine that Syrianos is leaning heavily on his time at a certain south-western german side to identify some of these lads as possible targets.

As I’ve said many times, there is some genuine talent in the Bundesliga.
I must say Strummer, you're really earning your corn this close season. Helping with a new forum and now German correspondent for transfers.

Good to hear from someone who's actually seen some of these characters play.

Cheers VP!

To be honest, when it comes to players I can only report on what I see, but I do watch a lot of German football, both on the telly and in person. If I spot a decent player, or see one Forest are rumoured to be involved with, I’ll gladly provide an opinion on him.

As I posted above, there’s some seriously good players competing in the Bundesliga, many at the so-called smaller clubs, and there are bargains to be had, especially when seen against the inflated English market.

Hopefully the pull of playing every week is more appealing than being on the bench at a supposed bigger club.

If he has interest from elsewhere in the Premier League, it is probably from more established clubs (as I feared).

Unfortunately I don't think this one is going to happen, though I'd love to be proven wrong...
I think we'll see this a lot...

Yep, targeting proven quality is one thing but actually landing them, particularly if other PL clubs are interested, is another.
Our success will be picking the best, but perhaps slightly under the radar players from the championship where we have more complete knowledge compared to others.

Clearly targeting Bundesliga players a bit. Not a bad idea. Good standard and possibly cheaper than lads who are currently in English Leagues' inflated wages

Great post and I agree. With how nowadays the big boys just seem to jump in and take over when guys like this are 'linked' to the prem or 'want to come over' it will be very hard to get them over those teams not neccessarily prestige wise but financially more than anything.

I love how we are going about targeting guys. As you say, maybe best bet for this window at least is getting under the radar guys that fit in to our philosophy. I think Sheffield United is a good model for that. Yes I know about their terrible second season but their first season they surprised a lot of people with a squad not all that great talent wise imo but still got results.

Lot of window left and yes realistically we need at least 5 signings I'd say. I think we will get there even if have to go the loan market avenue. Its just fun to even be looking for players for our Premier League team tbh!

Yeah, plenty of time. But this is where Dane and Coops will have to really show their expertise.. picking up players that slip under the radar of the other Prem clubs. Unfortunately, we'll have the lowest spending power of all the Prem clubs and, most importantly, we need the the most players. It's great we're being linked with lads line MGW but I just can't see a scenario where we'll get him. Other clubs can bid more and players will normally always favour a more established team (for this season at least).

We'll have a top player in our sights only to be usurped by a Leeds or Southampton. It's almost like the other clubs wait for us to do the hard work then pip us to the post; although I really hope I'm wrong. Our real value will be the hidden gems in the Champ who, under Coops, will make the step up. They may be on the radar of our rivals but not to the same degree. By the end of this window we'll be piss sick of be pipped by the likes of Crystal Palace. Let's hope West Brom, Norwich and the like feel the same about us.

I could be wrong here, but I think the 'new boy' thing outs us in a fairly decent position in terms of FFP in comparison to other teams already at the level who are working to the edge of that budget.

The loan thing is interesting too, in that there's less fat to trim. It's less of a factor for us, given the majority of our loans last year were shit hot, but there's nothing yet to say they'd step up.

Tldr: other sides might be pushing the limits of FFP (and therefire not have as much cash to splash) whereas we have a fairly clean slate. Naive?

Dane & co clearly have multiple targets for each position. It also seems as though we're talking to various parties at the same time for each position.

Don't fret. I'm confident we've got an elite recruitment team and we're going to shake things up a bit.

That's my take on it too.

We all know that TV revenue is by far the biggest source of income for clubs in The EPL. Some clubs would have already budgeted for this and already spent much of this season's lump of cash through transfer fees and salary guarantees.

Whilst big transfer fees make the headlines, it's really the big wages which will drain much of that income away. This is where we have our clean slate. We will have by far the lowest wage expenditure in the division meaning a lot of that cash injection isn't already spoken for. On the flipside we have more to do than the other 19 teams to bring our squad up to "Premier League Standard". We also have to balance that wage structure careful. Premier League quality players demand Premier League wages. How do you balance that against some of our top names last season who are on sub 20k a week?

Overall it's a pretty nice problem to have though

He posted another rumour about us yesterday...I think it was about Johnson. I didn't post it as I wasn't sure if he was legit or fake.

He does have a pinned tweet about Darwin going to Liverpool, which makes me think he's a faker as a legit journal wouldnt do that.
Yeah, it does feel potentially BUPA-ish. Happy to be proven wrong though, as Awoniyi would be an incredible signing, and getting Johnson tied to a new deal would be huge too.

Hes far more reputable than some of the 'journalists' that post stuff on the Forest timelines.

I think he's legit- judging by what he's posted so far & who follows him.
