I’ve no idea what his name is let alone who he is…

To my eyes almost any of those words could be a footballers name

I’d wager that there’s a bigger gap for a centre forward at Brentford at the moment!

Alarm bells starting to jingle... we still haven't signed anyone (other than Wood and he doesn't count really).
As it stands, our squad is significantly worse than last year, with Henderson, Navas and Lodi all gone.

Let's see where we are in a couple of weeks, but it's a crucial month ahead for the club.

No need to worry,Captain-we don’t need lots of players (unlike 12 months ago).
I’d rather have 3 or 4 good, well targeted signings (plus a couple of decent loans) rather than a load
of dross.
Plenty of time yet.
I would like us to resolve the goalie situation quickly.
Going into the new season with Hennessey as No 1 and Horvath as No 2 unnerves me!
Hennessey is a good No 2... but he is probably not totally reliable if he is the main man.

It’s significantly better than it was 12 months ago-plus we have had a year of experience in
the Premier League.
The goalkeeper does need sorting quickly though (as I said above).

I would love us to keep dipping into the Brazilian league, it's undervalued & it's clear there is huge talent there.

Nowadays it's easy for English clubs to go to that market with work permits easier to get & they all wanna play in the Prem.

Scarpa and Danilo ought to be able to give some good recommendations too, knowing the league and also what it takes to make the jump to the PL.

Even Felipe didn't leave Brazil until he was 27 & look at his huge quality.

We need to make that market our niche as it could be our way to gain advantages elsewhere when we can't dominate financially. A top Championship player goes for more than players in that league. Judging from our movement over the past year it does seem we have good eyes on that market though - we clearly have scouts and good data from over there.

I am very relaxed about it at this point, our squad is decent bar the goalkeeper and possibly LWB position depending on how much Omar Richards is left over after a year out.

Mods-can you move the last few posts to the 2023 window please?!
Yes.

And I’ve locked the older thread, because some of you clearly don’t know what year it is!

Before we all drop our collective shit lets look around - there's not much happened at all in the market
Arsenal 1 in
Villa 1 in
B'mouth 1 in
Brentford 6 in (but hardly anyone you've heard of)
Brighton 4 in
Burnley 3 in
Chelsea 6 in (but its a madhouse)
C Palace 1 in
Everton 0 in
Fulham 0 in
Liverpool 2 in
Luton 2 in
M City 1 in
M Utd 0 in
Newcastle 2 in
Sheff Utd 0 in
Tottenham 3 in
West Ham 1 in
Wolves 1 in

Doesn't look like anyone is getting their business done early however much we'd like it - looks to me like the players and more to the point their agents are holding out for the best deals and we've seen all the paper talk that the Italians are looking quite active in the market so with so many potential suitors around I suspect nothing will get done early
