A question arose while chatting to my lad. Has anyone ever been signed and then sold on by a club in the same window?
Thomas Helmer, who ended up at Bayern, by a circuitous route.

I’m not saying it will be an easy season for us but we shouldn’t be pessimistic. Think of al the 'ordinary' teams that didn't get relegated in their first season in the Premier League: Brighton, Villa, Leeds, Bournemouth, Wolves, Sheffield United, Leicester. If they could do it, we certainly can with our top manager and recruitment team.
What I would say, in most of those examples, there is a proper team rather than a collection of individuals thrown together in quick time. It's not our fault and nothing can be done but do what we're doing but it's just the situation we find ourselves in.

Brighton, Bournemouth, Wolves, Sheff Utd and Leicester all had teams that mostly were with them for years, all of those clubs had recently spent time in League One too and had risen up the leagues with many of the same players. With us it's almost as if someone has created a new team and added them to the Premier League and given them £150m and said get on with it.

Can a thread go off topic if it was never on topic? One of the great philosophical debates
It is, isn’t it?

It is a bit like the „If a tree falls in a Forest, and nobody hears it…“ one.

I believe Kierkegaard was referencing this LTLF issue when he said "It belongs to the imperfection of everything human that man can only attain his desire by passing through its opposite".

Good question.

I get excited each time I log on to see loads of new posts in the transfer forum but as there's been little to talk about this week it's been steadily going off-topic.

So I thought it would be a good idea to have a verified twitter updates only thread, no chat just literally updates. So you can come on and straight see if there's a new post in that thread you know something is going down...

Certainly agree to a point, but at least half of the squad will be there from last season, along with the manager and most backroom staff.
Assuming the system remains the same, players have been specifically purchased to fit into it, so it's a coherent procurement strategy rather than just scattergun into the market.
Good that much of the business was done early as well.

There did used be a thread on here that started as a model dicussion of the Hegelian Dialectic.

It turned into a fight thread about who was the hardest anti-thesis boot boy in the 80s.

It got deleted after Kierkegaard offered a bare knuckle straightener to PoppeRed; iirc there was didactic barney about whether God could be found Hyson Green Asda carpark or whether this kind of pugilism could only go beyond conscious if it happened up Bendigo Hill.

We lost some good posters to that episode. Camus, Bertrand Russell and OckhamRed are all missed.
