The lad seems to have had a new lease of life at Forest, after being discarded by Bournemouth.

Many thought he was maybe past it, I did a bit too, but bloody hell, he gives you absolutely everything on the pitch, and you cannot ask for much more than that.

Totally agree Chris... too many pre match melt downs when Cooke gets picked.

Also, that cross for the goal, it was almost Franck Ribery-esqe.

Cook,s a wide old fox. He knows he's holding the club captain and fans hero out of the team. He's got be at his absolute best every time he runs on the pitch. At the moment he is.

Our change in setup definitely helps him (and McKenna) with the lack of pace which was his only problem. He’s got bags of experience, ability and a great footballing brain and he’s able to use all those now.

The thing with Cook that everyone seems to ignore is that he can read a game, hes never been fast. He was brilliant yet again today.

Hes an easy target for some reason, its very boring. Shut the f*** up.

f***ing fair play to him, credit where credits due over the last few games. Suppose, it was suicide to not give him the protection he needed early on in the season as we all know hes not the quickest, but he’s barely put a foot wrong recently.

As above, a brilliant reader of the game, he lets his brain do what his feet can‘t.

And that cross today. That was awesome.

Just thought I'd make his thread pop up out of nowhere, a bit like he did on the right hand side for the goal.

Has anyone worked out how the hell he ended up out there from a fairly quick free kick yet?

It looked as though it might have been something off the training ground as he pulled wide straight away. Cracking first touch and even better ball in

Yeah caught it on the highlights, well worked and the last person any side would be expecting to pull out there to do that. As you say, exceptionally from Cook and It capped off a great performance from him.

I’d like to think it was a training ground move but you probably wouldn’t naturally select Cook to be the player to pull out wide and put it in box-unless it designed to confuse the opposition!!

We do it quite a lot on free kicks. Just usually it's McKenna peeling around the back and usually the opposition aren't so asleep to it :)

I thought he was a fantastic signing in January for us, but like many I assumed he'd be fourth choice in the prem, and once we went on a panic signing spree for centre backs, and started Boly, I got the impression Cooper didn't want him starting either

The handball vs Spurs and Leicester performance as a back two, in my eyes confirmed that he wasn't good enough for the Premier League

Which is probably why I'm sat watching Frasier, while Cooper is at training being a football manager lol. He's looked just as capable in this league as the Championship last year

I will say, in fairness to balance, on another day that mistake vs Brighton and losing his man at a set piece vs Liverpool could have cost us, but it's slightly harsh to expect any player to be flawless lol

I'm hoping, and expecting, that Joe is working closely with Cook behind the scenes this past year and is still improving despite not starting games

The right formation and tactics can mute the limitations of some players---I think that is where we sit right now, and I think it's something we should have been doing earlier. We'll see how it goes against Arsenal. Cook has been rock solid in recent games and we can have no complaints., but we have to realize that at some point Niahkate will be back and he will be in the starting 11.

He's definitely played well, but has also benefitted from a huge tightening up of the system.

Worrall has been a bit hung out to dry in all this. Totally exposed in the 343 formation by Neco's failure to defend. I honestly don't think Cook or McKenna would've faired any better in those circumstances. Stick Joe in a head it kick it situation and he'd be equally as effective, but feels like some have already written him off. He also adds a bit on the ball.

Certainly hope no-one has written off Joe - he's a good player and will play his part this season. I'd say he's currently being kept out by a change of shape which has resulted in a much improved defensive system. Something else may have gone on too, though coming on and getting the armband (and post match plaudits) from Yates suggests we are over that one.
