I've just seen another angle of it and I can't believe this is the angle you're going for pal. It's a blatant punching motion. Not exactly Mike Tyson in his prime, but a punch nonetheless.

The ref bloke on SSN is also saying 'VAR sh*t the bed' without actually saying it.

Forest have done nothing wrong here.
Can you post that angle so I can have a look?

The one I saw made it look like a love-tap. The type of punch you greet your mates with when you see 'em.

I didn't have Yates and Madison down as pals Alf.

Irrespective of the force the raising of a fist to punch an opponent constitutes serious foul play and a red card.

Madison bunched his fingers to form a fist and hit Yates in the stomach with it.

Not the sort of thing you do to a mate by way of greeting 42 minutes into a Premier League football match if you are in the stands let alone the opposition penalty area to a player you've been niggling at and having run ins to get them sent off with all game.

You probably do, if you’re from Mansfield.

It’s a bit like an episode of „The Bacons“ from The Viz up there.

Aston Villa fans feel there is a bias against the midlands teams in the Prem. Although I've seen Liverpool fans on Twitter say how the refs are against them

Wolves and ourselves have had some howlers this season though.

This league is very Southern-Liver-Manc-centric in favourable decisions. Good luck if you're from another region in England than there.

It's nothing to do with regions and everything to do with specific clubs.

Everton, Burnley, Fulham, Palace and Brentford are all in the same region and aren't getting favouritism.

Least we learnt yesterday you can punch people and it's not a foul or a booking...

Can't wait for round 4 of Forest V Wolves I expect Murillo to get a TKO of the whole of the Wolves team...
Might as well just get Harry Arter to run around smashing the substitutes in the face.

Such a shame after those last few games where we've not had to mention decisions or VAR.

Seems like this season it's been a majority of the games there's been something mad and in a lot of non-Forest games too.

Does anybody know what a foul, offside or handball is any more? The consistency seems to have got worse.

Yesterday we had a referee we know well from our Championship days (there are several of them plus a couple who have jumped the queue). He is known for refereeing at a distance from the action - this creates a problem. He is inconsistent throughout the game (and from game to game) like most PL referees.

His performance was no different to usual. There are a few who merit promotion but most are simply on a conveyor belt to replace retiring referees.

Others have made references to poor and inconsistent decisions yesterday, and the continuing catalogue this season.

It’s easy to draw conclusions but there has to be a reason. We have suffered particularly against the Big Six, but also in other games. It’s become more noticeable since we became vocal about it.

Bluntly PGMOL have closed ranks against us, and this plus referees being in awe of the Big Six, and fearful of the media backlash, have a subconscious leaning towards ‘bigger’ clubs. This is alongside, in my view, the lower standards of referees promoted beyond their ability.

I played at local park level for fifteen years (as a defender) and was never booked. At the end of each game I always shook hands with the referee. I have no agenda I simply want to see fairness of decisions at elite level. What I have witnessed in refereeing standards at elite level football in England this season has shocked me more than in sixty five years of watching live football.

Regrettably PGMOL and PL are in denial and we are powerless.

For the record I don’t put our league position down solely to referees - with our players and investment we should not be in the relegation dogfight this season.

Oh and by the way it was a red card yesterday.

I thought the referee was awful............again. Maddison clearly punched Yates, we've seen players sent off for much less. Maddison clenched his fist.......it doesn't matter how painful it was or not. Did VAR look at it? The yellow card for Danilo was ridiculous. He was clearing the ball. Yet VAR looked at it. Then there was the foul on CHO - at least a yellow & no card given. We got yellow cards for fouls............Spurs players didn't. There is clear favouritism with referees & VAR just backs them up.

I used to shake hands with the ref too, and buy him a pint or two so he wouldn't send my card in.

I have to say, there‘s a few posters on here going off like Mr. Chalmodley-Warner with all this Gentlemanly Corinthian behaviour and suchlike; to perhaps redress the balance a little, when I played for the Dog & Duck, my best/worst season (depends on your point of view) saw 13 Yellow Cards and two Red Cards.

In my defence (Your Honour), one of those Reds was for two Yellows, and the other one was for scrapping, and I didn‘t start it, someone threw a punch at me, missed, so I decked him (don‘t throw punches at former amateur boxers, kids) and that one was a straight Red. And, I have to say, deserved.

I mean, from that lot, you‘d think I was some kind of dirty player, or something?

(And you would not be far wrong, I was a right dirty bastard).

When you're on first name terms with the majority of refs in the league you know you're doing something right/wrong.

I was sent off for violent conduct once.
Diving bravely to grab a through ball before the in-rushing striker could get to it, I was kicked hard in the kidney area by the dirty bastard.
As he helped me to my feet, I was still gasping in pain, he said sotto voce " I'll do it again, don't you fret".
So I took a swing, and for a devout coward, I was fortunate to catch him right on nose...

Mike Dean, who sits with a host of pundits on Saturdays on SSN as the interpreter of VAR decisions. You know him, the guy who left the VAR panel of the PGNOL because he was "unsuited to VAR duties".

Anyway, he said on Saturday that he thought the quality of reffing had gone down this season. I'm not sure whether he was just agreeing with me or he really did think that to be the case.

Everton - Southern-Liver-not-Everton-Manc- centric didn't have the same ring to it.

Burnley - not in the regions specified.

Fulham and Palace - No specific Forest related incident.

Brentford - Toney's free kick ball movement and re-foam.

Further southern bias, Bournemouth - Boly red card and handball in the box not given, Brighton - whenever João Pedro falls in the box and Luton - points deductions for relegation rivals.

Yes but that rule only applies: a) If you are a London Club b) If you are a top six club. So in this instance the club concerned is well covered.

We should pull together a lowlights package of all the decisions that have gone against us with a contrasting sky 6 example to highlight the differential in standards required for us to get a decision.

The Maddison punch is beyond a joke. Obviously a punch, and as such is violent conduct.
