I was sent off for violent conduct once.
Diving bravely to grab a through ball before the in-rushing striker could get to it, I was kicked hard in the kidney area by the dirty bastard.
As he helped me to my feet, I was still gasping in pain, he said sotto voce " I'll do it again, don't you fret".
So I took a swing, and for a devout coward, I was fortunate to catch him right on nose...
I'll share my only sending off story. I was playing non league at the time and the opponents had a guy sitting in DM (he looked just like Zidane, which is quite funny to the story later). Anyway after about 15 minutes this guy tracked me f***ing everywhere, which was a bit odd as I was a striker and he was a good player but probably under instruction as I was having a good game and giving the CB's the runaround. The funny thing was the more he was getting into me and frustrated he became the more I was pulling his pants down, to the point where I could hear him steaming in from the side so I'd stop and roll it around him. Like I said he was a good player but his head had all but popped off at this point.

Fast forward to the 70th minute and having already scored in the first half and full of confidence (okay, arrogance) I've unleashed one from 25 yards and it's found the top corner, right in the bracket, one of our supporters behind the goal had a cigar on which was perfect so went over and borrowed it giving it the look of I'm doing this with slippers and a cigar on.

I kid you not about 2 mins later this fella has tried exactly the same shot but completely spannered it, almost to the corner flag. So as he's turned around to drop back on half way for the goal kick I said "come and stand next to me mate, I'll talk you though my goal" over he came (remember Zidane) BOSH, he headbutted me, my nose bust everywhere. Everyone was shocked however even his own teammate's said to me "what are you waiting for, hit him". That's all the encouragement I needed, wallop, my taped up ring wasn't enough to stop his eye splitting and that was me. Worth every penny of the fine too.

I thought the referee was awful............again. Maddison clearly punched Yates, we've seen players sent off for much less. Maddison clenched his fist.......it doesn't matter how painful it was or not. Did VAR look at it? The yellow card for Danilo was ridiculous. He was clearing the ball. Yet VAR looked at it. Then there was the foul on CHO - at least a yellow & no card given. We got yellow cards for fouls............Spurs players didn't. There is clear favouritism with referees & VAR just backs them up.
You don't have to hit someone that hard if you catch them in the right place and they aren't expecting it.
My old boxing mate will vouch for this when we went to do a job once. He knocked the door, said something sarcastic, I gave him a dig in the bread basket and the woman opened the door to find my mate on his knees gasping for air. I didn't let him ever live that one down.

Absolutely this. Yates has no idea that punch is coming so isn't prepared for it. We all know he can go down a bit easily at times but I've never seen him roll around whilst our goal is in danger. Only Yates knows if he was play acting or not.

I don't have a problem with us not getting a penalty for Maddison clearly punching one of our players in the gut, but it speaks volumes that the Sky commentators spent a long time speculating that Yates might get a second yellow for asking for a VAR review instead of mentioning the clear punch and wondering why VAR hadn't looked at it.
It's almost as if the system is corrupt.

He wasn't rolling around from what I saw, but just stayed down until play had stopped so it drew attention to it.

As I get older, the established order seems to crumble around me, every day throws new light on graft and corruption and sheer incompetence in those I trusted implicitly as a youngster.

True, I rebelled to a small extent against the established order, but that was more from the vivacity of youth and just feeling that those in charge didn't have my clarity of thought. I had no idea of the greed and perversion swirling away under the bland surface of power.

At the moment my mood is dark, feeling that we are rudderless in this country, charging towards destruction with those in power and, supposed, control unable to stop the rot. And that goes for the football, a very small part of the overall picture, but large in my thoughts.

Probably easier to trust when you were younger R because those with power were more accessible and could be held to account.

I don't think it's you that was naive I just think modern day capitalism encourages the worst in things

Just the two penalties not given by the onfield ref nor referred for review by VAR.

Sky did not show a replay of the first one for ages. When they did, they showed 1. Now if that was a big 6 team, I'd imagine there would be 10 replays in slow motion discussing all the ways it IS a penalty.

I bet Dyche and Everton fans won't be whinging about any PL agenda after this.

The CHO one is a penalty as well, the defender kicks his right heel.

They aren’t even hiding it anymore.

He has CLEARLY gone through the back of his leg.

Once again, no on field ref decision and VAR, which is meant to correct these things, is not fit for purpose.

Total farce of a game, they've won it, but it had absolutely no integrity. Not a fair fight all afternoon. It's going to get really ugly after today. Like legal ugly. PGMOL have basically declared war on the club today.

In any other top league, Taylor would be in huge trouble. He has brought the entire competition into disrepute.
