Doesn't matter how hard the punch is.

100% of the time it's a red card if it's a Forest player doing it so why has Maddison been let off the hook? We all know damn straight if Yates does exactly the same thing to Maddison later on in the game in frustration or whatever then he gets a red or it.

Why do our opponents continue, almost every game, to be held to a different set of rules?

Bang on. Embarrassing that he went down like a complete fanny.

The fact it's even being called a punch is embarrassing in itself.
My heart agrees with you, my head does not.

It's only embarassing if it's still the 90's.

Nowadays the other team will take advantage of every little thing they can, and so should Forest. A player doing any sort of punching motion is practically begging for punishment in the modern game.

Absolutely, why should you be allowed to lash out at an opponent? Fair enough if that is the standard we are setting but it isn’t. Inconsistency at every turn.

A number of challenges in the Manure/liVARpool game would been yellows for Forest in a flash but not when you are the big boys.

I was thinking exactly the same when I watched that game today. Forget who it was, but a counter attack was halted in midfield right in front of the ref who simply gave a free kick and no card. I thought, if that was a Forest player it would have been in immediate yellow.

We should have just started doing it off the ball throughout the rest of the game to highlight it. Just digging spurs players in the side every now and then off the ball.
Definitely would have been in the spirit of the game, such as with the number of times Elanga was cleaned out and the ref waved play on.

If we go down it will be due to referee decisions. We've lost 7 points this season because of them. We should be having cigars in relative safety right now.

This seems far too quickly forgotten in the relegation discussion. The four point PSR deduction should be irrelevant. It's about referees in my opinion.

The Maddison punch is the perfect illustration of why VAR doesn't work. The ref didn't see it so it doesn't require any clear and obvious error threshold. So either VAR reviewed it and decided there was no foul play or they just didn't look. If they decided no foul play then they aren't fit to be in role because the punching action was obvious.
That being the case the ref should have been instructed to review. It is for him to then make the call on whether it constitutes violent conduct or not.

And just on the punch and Yates going down easily. It just seems an odd place for him to fake injury. He does fall over too easily but I can’t remember him rolling around milking it whilst the ball pin balls around our box. He had no idea a punch was coming. It was a cowards shot from Maddison, but then he's a snidey twat anyway.

MGW got a yellow for a slide tackle when winning the ball from the side. 10 minutes later a spurs player tackled from behind and play continued.

Danilo received a yellow for catching a Spurs player that decided to run in on Danilo as he cleared the ball that was under his possession. Spurs end up getting a free kick on the edge of our box for free.

It's not the same game up here.

For the few, not the many.

The tackle on CHO was very bad. One of those that you do see given as a red, kind of an orange card as borderline between yellow and red. But not only was it not looked at by var it didn’t even lead to a yellow!! Then two minutes later they are looking at Danilo for a possible red for hoofing the ball up the field and his kicking foot catching a spurs player who had ran at him and then made a meal out of contact that he had initiated!! They really haven’t a clue, they have created the constant silliness with their shit rules and their beyond belief inconsistency.

I thought the ref was consistently light touch .
Yates committed too many fouls in the first 20 minutes, all on the same player, and by rights should have had 2 yellows and not been on the pitch to be punched.
Overall I thought the ref did ok.

Interesting to see that Wolves were back in the suffering from terrible decisions bucket again.

Oh come on Maxi... they've got to do their best to give West Aaaaam another European campaign... Can't have our London darlings missing out on that now can we....

And Liverpool got another dodgy penalty.
That's another of those penalties that we don't get. Yes the defender fails to get the ball, but the attacker consciously kicks the defender's outstretched leg and goes over. The striker isn't tripped, the striker engineers to fall over.

Some teams get those, and other teams don't.

Yep, see Arsenal at Brighton the other day as well. No way do we get that penalty now.

Aston Villa fans feel there is a bias against the midlands teams in the Prem. Although I've seen Liverpool fans on Twitter say how the refs are against them 🤣

Wolves and ourselves have had some howlers this season though.

This league is very Southern-Liver-Manc-centric in favourable decisions. Good luck if you're from another region in England than there.

I think to a point every team's supporters think the ref/the FA/the world has an agenda against them and only them. It's just the tribal, completely biased nature of football supporters.

I definitely think us and Wolves have had the shitty end of the stick this season though and I agree there is definitelya bias towards the top teams whether subconsciously or not. On Saturday VAR won't know who to mug off first.

Just watched the MOTD2 coverage. Wasn’t expecting much but to be fair Murphy and deeney totally nailed the Maddison possible sending off.
And Murphy did say that we had had so many poor decisions against us. Also making the point that you really need some of those to go your way.

Anyone would think the so-called „big clubs“ - the mooted „Sky Six“ as it were - were based entirely on those regions, or something!

The Yates "punch" was piss weak IMO. I've no qualms with the decision given. If that had been given against us I'd have called the opposition player a fanny for going down like that.

Sad state of the modern game, but hearing Nuno post match moan about it reeked of desperation and a lack of bottle tbh.

We seem to have fallen into a general victim mentality at the club. For me that only weakens us further.
I've just seen another angle of it and I can't believe this is the angle you're going for pal. It's a blatant punching motion. Not exactly Mike Tyson in his prime, but a punch nonetheless.

The ref bloke on SSN is also saying 'VAR sh*t the bed' without actually saying it.

Forest have done nothing wrong here.

I was watching on Sky Germany, and the commentators there called it as a punch, and could not understand why VAR did not intervene.

Maddison will no doubt be praised for being „clever“, you know, like Ivan Toney.

Or "trying his luck" which is how they described Son's dive
