Standard of Referees (Sponsored by Steven Reid)

I've posted this before. Jeff Winter tells you everything you need to know about why referees don't give you those decisions and what happened when he did.

It completely stinks. Referees are ensuring that the continue to get the big clubs in self preservation and there is pressure from the big clubs applied to remove referees that don't give them decisions.

What made me laugh was after arteta had a massive paddy we continued to get bad decision against us, so do wolves, the overall standard is abysmal but the media narrative was that things had got better. I can’t remember which diddle we had just suffered but the fact we were complaining was met with “but the decisions have improved”.

WTF???? Maybe for the top couple of clubs, which is clearly all that matters.

Exactly, see my previous post as to why. As Jeff Winter says, the referees all want to continue refereeing the big clubs and the big games. To continue to do so their is a bias to give them the decisions because they apply the pressure to have you removed.

He said he didn't ref another top 6 club for years after a decision he gave, which considering he is a Boro supporter and he was unable to referee their games or Sunderland and Newcastle that's almost too impossible to be coincidental.

It's not only in our League. Steve Evans, Ok he's always having a moan, but after the Peterborough game last night he wasn't holding back about the standard of refs, not only in that game, but week after week.
Strangely enough, he wasn't referring to the ref and assistants completely missing his captain's forearm smash to a Peterborough striker's head though.

Europe‘s most entertaining league, leading the way, yet again!

Whilst it is not - yet - going to be part of the live broadcast feed, you could indeed see a time when it would be. But again (and as I have posted before) it is absolutely routine in Bundesliga matches, where there has been a contentious decision, for the man with the whistle (or, on occasion, woman with the whistle) to come out for an interview post-match, to justify why they made a specific decision.

Classic Steve Evans. Horrible twat he is.
I remember when he got thrown out of Blundell park for acting like an absolute ****, then he got abused by a load of chav kids hanging around outside and was crying about his safety being compromised. Maybe try not being a **** for a day Steve. Have a day off mate.

Nuno seems to have abandoned the Clattenburg mouthpiece tactic, which is good. Nice of a journo to actually list out the full list of horseshit we’ve had flung our way, as opposed to the usual dismissive head pat.

Yeah, he went a bit beyond that last Sunday tea time.

That sound you can hear are heads popping in Huddersfield after Nuno uses John Moss as the benchmark to follow.

So who stole the bbc journalist’s toilet?

Yeah I was going to make the point on the matchday thread that at least it was our own ineptitude that cost us the win rather than yet another shocking refereeing decision

The bits I watched I thought he was even slightly in our favour on a lot of 50/50s. Just happy for a non entity of a refereeing performance.

The lino was a bit of a numpty, mind. Least it didn't cost us.
He looked a junior too. Underlines the point that many experienced officials have moved on and the talent pool overall is inexperienced

I have an idea that they are so short of officials, having to supply so many for VAR as well as matches in the middle, that they cannot take any more action in the case of bollock-dropping other than to chastise the official concerned and then let him continue.

Even in the close season, refs seem needed for these needless and endless tournaments that go on for the clubs whose players are all 'exhausted' during the season.

So no time for proper training and refresher courses. Just tea and buns and a chat every so often.

Just look at the Nick Jackson "penalty" incident Chelsea/Leicester FA Cup just now and ask why there's a free kick and a card, and why Nico Williams got nothing.

When Yates got fouled no penalty because they alleged it was OUTSIDE the box, we didn't get a free kick for it, but Chelsea do.

Explain.

I'm guessing because the on field ref actually gave a penalty to Chelsea, where as for us the ref presumably played on or gave a goal kick or something so no penalty = on field decision.
