Oh I'll miss him, thank you so much for everything Serge. Good luck at AFCON & Galatasaray!

First Team Squad
Niakhate and Yates both of whom are likely to be first choice until end of season.

I meant in terms of volume. People grow and they steps up etc, but from what I see I don’t think we have a surplus of the kind of characters you want when you need to dig in. Too many are either young lads or quiet lads. It’s a bit of an Arry Redknapp throw away, but you do need ‘leaders all over the pitch’. MGW and Yates are learning that role. Niakhate has experience but may not start on merit. Likewise Wood. Then you’re struggling until you get to… Joe.

Would rather have kept him and sent Montiel back, but maybe there’s something Nuno sees differently.

All the best Serge, great memories.

If he was on £50,000 a week, say, we’ve just saved about a million quid in wages, on top of the nominal fee.

Probably my player of the season last year, but looked like he was still on the beach when he turned up again this summer. Was hardly featuring under Cooper, let alone Nuno. The one thing I do remember from him this season was the massive brainfart against Luton that kickstarted their season, cost us two points, and arguably sent us into a tailspin that ultimately cost Cooper his job.

That said, I still like the guy, wish him the best at Galatasaray, and am grateful for his leadership last season. Find some of the anguish about us letting him go a bit puzzling though.

If the fee is really that low, why on earth are we letting him go? I just don't see what's in this for the club. The squad is weakened and we get peanuts in return.
1-1.5m on wages, player leaves on a happy note and Nuno gets his wish of a smaller squad to work with?

Montiel, Williams and Aina is more than enough at RB for this year and I would imagine if.none of them really step up we review in the summer.

Well okay but at least half of this forum think Montiel's loan should be cancelled, Aina is still at Afcon and Williams, while impressive as wing back has yet to convince as a straight RB. Is £1 million too much to spend on having a hugely experienced RB to call on if we need him in a desperate struggle for PL survival? I don't think so.

Screw The PL
Sangare's not been good enough, and I think Nuno will move away from Danilo.

It wouldn't surprise me if we close out the season with Yates and Dominguez as the pair.
Agree, assuming we can generate more attacking intent with Awoniyi back, Elanga when fit, plus the new addition. Would enable him to revert to his 2 midfielders with the highest work rate/ethic, Dominguez and Yates.

Wasn't expecting the Yates / Dominguez partnership that quickly.

Still at the club according to the commentator today.

At least know what you're talking about if you're going to slag our transfer policy off.
