would be tempted to start Aina on the right instead for a game or two - an annoyed Aurier often plays better

Yeh- Lee Charnley has a lot to answer for.

But I must say- Wood was close to having a hat-trick yesterday. Some might argue he could have had 5 or 6 but I'd say he's starting to prove his worth.

Just about.
I'm not one to bash Chris Wood, he's decent at what he does.

Just making the point the club isn't always as well considered as we would like.

As a defender, if you clear a ball or make a tackle, you're doing your job right?
If you make a mistake, you're finished or you're shit.

Ignore the fact that it should have been our free kick for their player dragging Morgan back by his neck, about 40 yards from where the free kick was.

It's fine margins, for sure. Take MGW's overhead kick against Leicester last year. If he misses that and Leicester score an equaliser from it, you think.. "twat" but because it had a positive outcome, you don't say anything.

Same thing goes here. If Serge flicks that ball away from goal, it's good defending. But because he's missed it, he's finished. We've had nine games this season, Serge has been captain for 4 and he laid on both goals against Sheffield United.

In isolation of the Luton game, "twat" but if you look at the bigger picture, he's a leader, a contributor and still one of our best defenders.

Aurier's mistake Saturday was inexcusably poor. There are no two ways about that. And it was a crucial one. Generally he's been pretty good though. But we don't need to see another one of those mistakes this season.

This one (so far).
I guess you have now put the caveat (so far) in with your response, I agree he isn't hitting the performance that he had last season but he was slow out of the blocks then.

He was awful pre season. He screwed up with the free kick, Boly did something similar last season with a set piece I think it was a duck rather than header..a lot of people on here wanted Boly gone after desperately wanting him back.

Let's not judge his whole 23/24 season on a hand full of games..unless you can see in the future.

We knew Nuno liked a small squad and with montiel, Williams and Aina as RB coverage, he may be surplus to requirements. I think he's been a great addition though.

It would be nice for the media to report a number of outgoings higher than the number we bring in. They probably won't though.

Fab reporting Serge to Galatasaray is down to final details.

Feels like a deal that makes sense with his contract coming to an end and our plethora of right backs. If we get a small fee having signed him on a free sounds like a good bit of business.

Been a fantastic free signing though, one of our best for ages.

He hasn’t played at all this season, basically but I didn’t expect this.

Great singing for Gala, thIs.

My Turkish Gala-supporting colleague is very happy about it, anyway.

Serge replacing Boey does seem like a slight downgrade, no disrespect at all to serge.

Yeah, my Turkish friend was rather glum to lose their man to Bayern, but he‘s happier with Aurier in place.

From the times I seen Gala in the champions league this season, Boey looked levels above the team at times and the price Bayern paid makes sense. Serge will be acceptable for them for about a year or so until they inevitably unearth another mid level gem.

Been a good servant to us but I think his time has come. Can't see how he gets in the team in front of the other options we currently have.

Was excellent for us last season. Doesn't seem to be in Nuno's plans though and he'll be on decent money so no point warming the bench.
