I work in political comms and I've never seen an organisation have a day as bad as this PR wise. Mistep after mistep. Even Corbyn's Labour didn't have a day this much of a car crash.

All who thought up the tweets, sanctioned it, wrote it and posted it should be made to read out the replies at half time v Chelsea, instead of the piss poor interviews. Get me hot water, toilets that dont stink, beer worthy of the title, actual leg room, concourses that allow people to walk through, stewards that dont block half the exit stairs, let me get out after the game within 5 mins not 20, produce a team worthy of the support they get and dont piss me about with this BS

Despite the price hike, my guess is that most people will actually renew and there'll be less than 1000 that don't. Those 1000 will then be snapped up. Home membership will radically increase with top tier membership at £150 plus, but again people will renew. Ticket prices will be £50 for top games as well, but the City Ground will still sell out.
Not saying that the price hike is justified or fair, but the club know what demand is like. The way they've gone about it is terrible, especially with the late night tweets. Feels like they're just laughing at fans.

The way the club has dealt with this is shocking. Create a waiting list before prices are released, release season ticket prices with a ridiculous increase in price and then use the waiting list as a threat to renew.

I've just read the comments under the tweets....WOW!!! I've never seen anything like that after a club tweet. They have absolutely stung the fanbase to the point of utter disgust. This is genuinely the worst PR stunt the club has ever pulled

A lot of the members got automatically enrolled so I imagine that accounts for quite a few.
It’s a real shame for those who won’t be able to afford to go next season, especially the older people who have seen a price increase make it impossible for them. Though given the tweets about record renewal (no reason to believe its false), I imagine a lot of the twitter / online backlash is just hot air, and venting frustrations before eventually forking over the cash to renew, I mean its like train fare increases, you get pissed off, but you’re still gonna have to make that journey.
And I guess the large waiting list was a tactical plan, to show season card holders that if they can’t afford it, plenty can. It is a real shame, but it is the price of ‘success’

I think this a lot more than hot air tbh. I've not seen anything like this kind of backlash before. The thing with the train journey is that you probably really need to make that journey, people don't need to go to the football and it's hard to justify it.

Perhaps this year people will bite the bullet, one more price increase of 25% and people will be asked to pay £1000 to sit in the main stand and people will be forced to not renew as that would be insane.
They can say what they want about the waiting list but it means nothing unless people actually buy the tickets available to them.
The atmosphere will only get worse when folk who have quite literally been going to games their entire lives sack it off, in todays age you can watch every game for free online now as well so I suspect some people will chose to do that instead.
