Having played as a striker myself I've absolutely loved watching ours this season for various reasons. Keeping it to Sam, he's absolutely mastered the art of opening his body up to bend it in. He also uses the knuckle part of his big toe which is very difficult but it makes the ball absolutely rocket away because it's using that hard bone.

You can see why he likes to come in off the left as he knows anything coming from the centre or right or him cutting in increases the opportunity for him to do it

I f***ing love a goal from a direct free kick. A lost art. Best one I ever saw was Lewis McGugan against Ipswich and was sitting in T5 right behind the bastard as it flew into the net at the bridgford end.

What a goal.

Yeah that was pretty amazing. Lew was a definite PL player in terms of his talent but such a waster he's been pretty much washed up for a few years now, way before he was 30.

We had Woany and Psycho who could belt them in before PVH as well, the consistency with those three, no-one since has been much of a threat.

You knew where that ball was going for his second. Reminded me of teddy sheringham.

The best finisher we have had in a long time, Get those crosses in the box and he will do the business.

Thierry Henry was the master of drifting to the left and bending those shots in like that.

Don’t forget Johnny Metgod.
His free kicks were amazing.
It didn’t seem to matter what distance out they were. They just went in like rockets.

First Team Squad
Grabban has been good for us this season, then there was Davis and his powerful running but this guy gives us another dimension with his movement and desire to score. Our midfield players now look even better picking out Sam's clever runs. Looking good for Tuesday.

Jack Burkitt
Nigel Clough
Stan Collymore
Pierre Van Hooijdonk

Of my generation and given their record and the importance of their goals Garry Birtles, Peter Davenport and Tony Woodcock are outside and they'd also like to have a word.

In saying that I take absolutely nothing away from Surridge - he's been excellent especially given he's gone from being sold cheap by Stoke and being the second, maybe third string striker here to leading the attack and has barely put a foot wrong.

Being a striker is all about confidence and he must be brimming, and at just the right time as well.

Lets hope he continues the scoring against old clubs into this week

Surridge has broken the Forest curse of the past with strikers. Usually that of being pap for us, then going elsewhere and banging them in for fun, really refreshing change that we're on the right end of it this time. Well done Coops again for seeing something in Sam that no one else seemed to.

A goal contribution every 67 minutes.

Un. f***ing. Real.

That is (proper) Ronaldo-esque.

Yes it’s „only“ the second division, folk will say. But this lad is deadly around the box, has strength, pace, power, and technique.

That lovely curled finish into the top corner yesterday, wow.

Things have changed so fast but we all of a sudden have so many players who have a chance of succeeding in the top flight and he is one of the many.

To think we added him and Davis in the Jan window. Some work that.

With all respect to the European leagues, the top 10 of the championship would be top 6 in every other top division in Europe with the exception of 1.Bundesliga

You’re right, and this has been said before, and it’s a direct result of so much money flooding into the English top-flight that they can pick the best of the world‘s players, so that many young local prospects can’t get a sniff, and so get bumped-down a division, or have to chance their arm overseas, like Jude Bellingham (a player I absolutely love watching, even though he plays for Dortmund) and even Reece Oxford, who is doing a solid job at unfashionable Augsburg.

Clinton Mola here at Stuttgart (if he can ever keep himself fit) is another English youngster who could be a real star.

Murphy did the same last January at Barnsley when they got Dike and he basically carried them to a playoff place.

He's obviously done really well, but we've not created this many chances for a striker in my life time! Assombalonga would have loved playing in this team.

Best of all was Psycho. He was like a medieval executioner wielding an axe when he took a free kick. There were some where the force of the free kick took the goalie into the net as well. Loved it.
