Samuel William Surridge

Surridge is a smooth mover, gliding over the ground and, so far, a deadly finisher. Somehow I think he needs to become a bit more of a sniffer in the box, but he's a pretty good CF to have.

I know that one was wrongly ruled-out Richard, but I'd argue that the two he scored in the cup-tie against Huddersfield demonstrated a poacher instinct.

Really impressed with him. When I'd seen him before he looked very average so was underwhelmed with the signing, but he's beenfantastic. Must be pushing for a start.

I'm sure it is now at the point of cliche in rugby but I remember Eddie Jones saying that players coming on weren't substitutes but 'game finishers'.

I think surridge is perfect in that role. Davis batters them for 60 mins and Sam is fresh and ready to run at defenders and take the chances that come when the game gets stretched. Not to say it couldn't work the other way round.

He seems like a wind up merchant but think his temperament with us so far has been dead on.

He seems like a good signing with the right attitude.

Though you do need the odd player who can get under the opposition a bit. Jamie Ward used to piss us off loads when he played for the sheep, and did similar for us a bit, though probably nowhere near as much.

I wouldn't necessarily expect Worrall to be good to play against either.

I think Forest under Cooper is the natural home for a player like Surridge to shine. And he’s the sort of striker we lacked for so many years.Clinical, and with an attitude to match!
No disrespect to Grabbs, but if we can hang on to Davis,he and Surridge will make a killer combo!

Another player we've bought with desire and passion.

Coming in on his days off and doing extra. Sounds like all these lads are pushing each other in the right way but ultimately want the team to win.

Fantastic vibe with guys like this around.

Dane spoke about how they are trying to hire players with the right attitude, and it's about time

Hopefully gone are the days where we sign players who think they are the dogs bollocks and don't want to put the effort in and sign players like Surridge, Davies, Yates, Worral etc players who want to train, want to learn and want to be the best player they can be.

It's an exciting time to be a Forest fan, but it's also quite an anxious time. We don't know whether we're going up or not. We don't know what the player situation will look like if we do go up. Johnson, Grabban, Davis situations all up in the air. I think the emergence of Surridge as a credible option for us is the strand of continuity we can hang on to here, as we move into next season, whether that be in planning for the Championship or the Premier League. He's done a great job and has improved as he's gone along.

Exact.

I can almost forgive the excesses footballers steal in money and forgive their private life nonchalance when I hear they put the work in and commitment.

He sounds old school. I can imagine he comes from a good background, and that's something we're looking into these days when we sign players.

Cooper also would have known him from working with him previously.

It's also great that he's our own player. We're not developing him and increasing his value for another team.

Is anyone surprised? He had to spend 6 months in Stoke, if that doesn't give you the kick up the arse you need to get your career back on track, nothing will.

Didn't work out for Lyle Taylor at Forest, but he did the business at Charlton and is doing the business at Birmingham.

Likewise, Sam Surridge didn't fit in at Stoke but so far looks right at home at Forest under Cooper.

It's easy to look at a players track record and make a guess as to how they'll get on, but its important to make sure that the player fits in at the club and what the coaching staff want to do. Too often in the past we have signed players on reputation alone, but with the likes of Spence, Davis and Surridge the club evidently did their homework and they all fit Forest like a glove. Refreshing to see us make this sort of signing and for it to pay off.

If everything worked out every time we'd miss out on the fun when someone writes off a player before they've even played.
