Aren't they the club that Grabban joined and then left because they didn't pay him for 3 months and when he asked about it and they then terminated his contract?

At least we've not spent £25m on a money grabbing shitbag.

Leave the lad alone I say. The premier league has only become the best in the world because of money. La Liga was only better in its heyday because of money. Now the Saudis are using money. Hell why would you leave Rome under one of the best managers of all time playing ina better team than Forest and in Europe to come here. If it wasn’t a money thing. I love Forest more than anything on this planet but what we are saying about him now is what Roma fans would be saying when they saw us linked. Money is the deciding factor in football if always has been.

Whilst money is a factor, it is far from the only thing that draws players to leagues like La Liga or the Premier League. Whereas the only reason anyone would go to leagues like Saudi Arabia is money.

Nothing wrong with calling a spade a spade. He's chosen money over football. I'm sure he'll be more than aware of what people will think of him when he agreed terms with the Saudi side anyway and doesn't give a shit what we think.

No I agree he is chasing money over football but he is doing the same if he left AS Roma under mourinho and in European completion to come to Forest…. I agree it’s a lesser extent than sayid arabia because we are better team however I still think money is still the number 1 motivator in joining Forest.

I agree let's be honest money is always a factor.

This new super league is a gamble.

Yes the young lads that go over there may not be the old pub players of the 60s to the 2000s plus and couldn't care about sex booze and drugs but they will notice the massive difference in freedom and able to use their overindulgence on Social Media.

Well if he came to Forest (or more likely if he came to England, Aston Villa) he'd get to test himself in a better league (plus European football at Villa) and if he did well would catch the eye of bigger clubs that can win silverware and improve his international prospects. That's all gone now though, the pay day in Saudi Arabia is all he'll have, very different to playing in the Premier League or other top European league.

Let’s not forget, quite often the players are not fans. They’re just doing a job. And there’s not many of us that would turn down literally stupid money for doing the what we’re already doing.

He is Brazilian though. They have always gone where the money is; that’s not even a slight on them, it’s just true.

Oscar literally threw his international career away in his prime to go to China for money.

If we’re signing Brazilians, best get them straight from Brazil I reckon.

Italian clubs are on the verge of bankruptcy. Roma's owners have injected hundreds of millions euros just to counter losses, Juventus and Inter - especially the latter - are artificially kept alive by banks.
The downfall started 20 years ago and if it weren't for the fact that football here has also an economic (5th industry in Italy in terms of revenue), political and social value, it's likely Serie A wouldn't exist anymore. There are many many issues, the first one being bureaucracy preventing clubs from building new stadiums. Old stadiums mean low TV appeal and TV rights sold at low prices.
The transfer market has been awful so far, with 4-5 clubs battling for the same players. On the other side, I predict much more competition for the title. Even Atalanta can potentially win next year. We're done. I don't know if we'll ever come back, but Italy as a football powerhouse is currently dead.
So, if you look at things from our point of view, Saudi money is welcome.
It is the same over here. There is so much money going to players and agents a lot of clubs outside the elite overstretch themselves and find themselves in trouble. It’s sickening to be honest.

It's a shame we can't seem to get these exciting young signings over the line at the moment, but I'm encouraged we're targeting the exact type of player I want us to. It's totally normal for an ambitious club trying to step up a level.

Yes, but overall the system still works. Mid-table Premier League sides have more financial firepower than Italian top clubs. Personally, I don't think Premier League is doomed to failure. Overstretching can be a problem for this or that club, and it's the same thing that happened in Italy during the 90s. Remember Parma or Lazio? But current Italian problems are systemic. It's the entire mechanism that doesn't work anymore. The Premier League on the other hand is a money-making machine.

One less gobshite...
I'm not arse about players taking the petro-dollar... ultimately, he could have a career threatening injury and then the Option is gone for them... some will factor that in act accordingly... others won't

The thing that will be interesting to see, as in this case, will be their international careers, but maybe that's something they're willing to cash out on too.

That said, unfortunately he's going to Saudi Arabia. The most reliable journalist in Rome is Filippo Biafora (check him on Twitter). He says al-ahly have offered 35 Mln to Roma and 9 mln to him.

Another incredible thing about this situation is that all these players are not going to pay taxes there.

The transfer window needs to be looked at. There should be a uniform window for all including the Saudi League that ends by the end of July so all clubs start the season knowing their squad before the season starts and have a short period to integrate new players.

Totally agree, FIFA should insist on global transfer windows of January and July only across the board - then every league would have a close season window and a mid season window
