Rafa IS NOT Mir here anymore!

This thread should be locked. It’s pointless and circular

It is, but much in that I can take perverse delight in watching two paralytic drunks trying to scrap with one another at chucking-out time, it’s almost cathartic watching a pointless argument about a footballer who hasn’t played for Forest for ages, and never will again.

Maybe we’re Mir the end of the thread. It’s in a state of Mir collapse.

Why should we though? He was only here for a year and should have been able to step straight in Grabban's boots after 4 or 5 games. He wasn't here as a long term player.

And we dropped points when we started Mir like losing to Wigan 1-0......

https://www.nottinghamforest.news/2019/10/21/nottingham-forest-wigan-rafa-mir/

He got another start against Milwall, and we were 2-0 down until Sabri took him off for Grabban, who scored 2 to nab us a draw. That was Dec 10th, almost halfway through the season.

He was nowhere near ready for the role we required him for and, had he got the chances we'd have just dropped more points from missing Grabban. If anything his signing is IMO one of the biggest reasons we missed out on the playoffs, for the points dropped in those games mention. Two fairly winnable games in which a capable cover player should have been able to step in.

Mir is a prime example of an awful loan not up to the task in hand. A recommended talent with no real context given to the recommendation. He might go on to be a brilliant player, but a 2 year old Maradonna is no good to us if he's gone by the time he's 3.

f*** all these piss-pot, not-ready loans like him, Muric & Semedo. They cost us a playoff place and will now only go on to benefit their parent clubs at our loss. We've been used worse than a Shirebrook whore.
I never said he should, just stated you can't really judge a player who was a bit part player, especially one that has started to come good and is being touted for one of the big European clubs.

And for all your hypothetical situations how do you know given a run of starts Mir wouldn't of scored 20 Goals? You don't...

We might not know for certain but given that during his time here Rafa Mir barely looked a footballer let alone a 20 goal a season striker and was so short of confidence he was scared of his own shadows from the floodlights it's a reasonable assumption to make that had we given him a run of 20 games the manager would have been sacked for gross incompetence after about 8 of them.

Playing for the champions of La Liga is more his level. Simply not good enough for Forest!

Had he been a permanent signing that would actually carry some weight.

But he wasn't. He had 1 year to do the business here and failed miserably. All giving him any more time would have done is deprive Grabban of game time, who scored 20.

He was as green as they come and hadn't developed the bottle for the big stage yet. We shouldn't have been that club to suffer whilst he developed.

When Muric eventually blossoms, I'm expecting to hear we should have played him in net all that season too

He wasn't ours. It was pointless developing him, and it was an ill thought out & shambolic signing. A prime example of the lack of planning, care and context given to transfers under Vrentroz.

In all seriousness mate he played all of 200 minutes in a Forest shirt, not enough time to judge anything, he's obviously a good footballer just didn't get the time here, good luck to him. Think he's also going for a gold medal in the Olympics today, so he's doing alright without us

Regarding loans though its probably gonna be the case even more so this season that we're developing other teams players... Zinkernagel seems to be incoming, would hope there's a chance to sign him permanently at the end of his loan but we're not gonna get Garner on a permanent or Doig if he signs for a Prem club and comes straight here on loan. Same with Morgan Rogers if he comes in from City.
