Rafa IS NOT Mir here anymore!

Re: [BUPA] Rafa Mir

Not a great goalscorer but a different option to what we have. Would still like to see us drop some money on some real pacy competition for Grabban even if this lad comes in.

Re: [BUPA] Rafa Mir

7 goals in 30 games in the Spanish 2nd tier isn't stellar, but he does seem to offer that big physical, aerial option that we don't currently have. Not sure about having a player like this as our sole alternative to Grabban, but if he's one of two new forwards coming in then he could be a useful option.

Let's hope the loan fee isn't astronomical.

Yeah, maybe getting a forward with some pace (maybe a forward who can play through the middle or out wide?) in addition to this lad would be a smart move.

Re: [BUPA] Rafa Mir

I remember he was really highly thought of at Valencia when Wolves got him pretty sure Real Madrid were interested too, just wasn't ready for first team football at that stage, hopefully he's come on a bit in the last season. Cites Mario Gomez as his idol.

Doesn't get me the buzz. To be honest I don't know a lot about him but Pep Clotet at Birmingham might convince him before us. But we certainly need a CF that can go beyond the defender with some speed.

That bloke seems to be either talking shit or he's thinking of the wrong player, Mir scored 15 in 19 in his last half season in Segunda B.

Valencia is my Second team and that's not correct, he was though of as a decent prospect with a bad attitude, when he left the 2 main thoughts at the time were "Why the f*** is he leaving Valencia for Wolves considering Valencia are good at playing their young prospects" (the answer is Mendes, ofc), the other was "eh, not that big a loss"

Might as well keep Murphy, I despair with Forest we need to add goals, where are these munters constantly coming from. We have also been linked to Scott McKenna a centre half! What the feck we are inundated with centre halfs, I don't ever get then transfetr strategy of Forest.

The key with McKenna is that he’s a left footed center half. Pretty crucial we have that option if SL’s seemingly preferred system is going to be implemented to its full potential.

Lamouchi has said he wants another defender still, so every chance it is a CB.

Sociedad's first goal highlights the issue we'll have with Dawson. As much as I like him, he's very exposed to balls in behind and across him. No recovery at all there.

Its not a needs must though, when I watch us I never think what we are missing is a left footed centre half. When I watch is I see a lack of goals, Ben Watson playing CDM and a complete lack of pace at Left wing. Scott McKenna for 3 mill would be negligent of what our outstanding issues are.

And if we sign him we’ll obviously be moving on at least one of the existing centre halves. I like buying young players with room for growth, and that one’s relatively proven.

I’m sure we’re working on forwards too, everyone knows we’re short there.

Our transfer strategy is pretty new with Modesto overseeing it, don’t tar him with the same brush that got us Cummings!

So what you're saying is that we don't need any more defenders.

Re: [BUPA] Rafa Mir

Does anyone know what McKenna’a strengths / weaknesses are? Has he got pace? What’s his distribution like?

I haven’t seen him play and don’t have FIFA or ‘FM’ or whatever the kids do to know.

I don't buy this argument.

You don't say, 'we need a striker, so we will ignore any improvements we can make to the team, until we have found the striker we need'.

You improve where and when you can.

Whilst he's an imposing character (6'2, but also a very big lad), he's a CB who is good on the ball, likes to play out from the back. If we're going to try and play this high line, and move the ball quickly through the lines, it starts at the back. So I can see why we're trying to address it.
