We still have Kouyate for rare occasions like that.

Just seems sometimes people on here complain about a bloated squad, but then don't like the idea of the alternative, which is that you don't have infinite resources in reserve for just in case.

Somebody fire up the 'we should keep McKenna' posts.

Daniel Taylor is saying Lyon preparing an offer package worth around 30 million. Clearly depends on the details of what the base fee etc is.

Would we sell?

if we can get 30 million for him it will be a huge profit and we have alot of options in his position and gives us a chunk of money to get a permanent signing in one of the positions we need to get in goalkeeper, winger or striker, Mangala will be missed though as he looks a good one to have in the dressing room

Is it an actual £30m offer, or is it a loan with an option to buy if he plays more than 50% of the games, finds a cure for cancer and ends world hunger?

Still not comfortable with us selling anyone decent at this late stage, even for good money. Not enough time to make proper use of the money, and anyone half decent will be very hesitant to join us given our current situation.

Think we should just sign a keeper on loan and stick with what we've got. The chances of us bringing in anyone that will improve us is very slim, even with £30m to spend.

If it's a loan with loads of wiggle room then yes, maybe we should stick with him.

His sale has been in the offing for most of the window though - you'd imagine/hope that the recruitment team has purchase options lined up for if it goes through.

Maybe it’s like the Johnson situation, a domino effect of deals are in place?

Nothing seems to be particularly close at the moment though, whereas when we sold Brennan Johnson we seemed to have a lot of deals on standby ready to go. If we sell Mangala (assuming that Lyon have actually made a proper bid and not another one of those piss take loan + option deals) I can see us panic buying on deadline day.

At this late stage, I'd rather keep Mangala than give the recruitment team's scattergun any more ammunition.

I’m sure a couple of deals happened late on that were unexpected. Omobamidele for one. I don’t know, just feels like this hasn’t gone away and there seems to be noise around wingers and keepers.
