Orel Johnson Mangala, one of my favourite players of Die Schwaben.

A central midfielder, he excels in a box-to-box role for Stuttgart, bringing the ball out from the back, joining up with attacks and getting himself around the edge of the box.

Good with both feet, he’s pacy, physical and a proper athlete. Decent strike on him too, and he’s accomplished defensively.

There was interest last season at around €25m, Stuttgart don’t need to sell (he’s under contract until 2024) but a big bid might interest Sporting Director Sven Mislintat.

Goddammit.

Sven likes big bids and he cannot lie
Sven is an absolute Genius at plucking some unheard of players from absolutely nowhere that turn into diamonds.

He signed Mangala from Dortmund’s reserves, for pennies, he found Japanese duo Wataru Endo (€650k from St. Truiden in Belgium) and Hiroki Ito (€300k from Jubilo Iwata in Japan‘s second tier), both of whom are brilliant; striker Sasa Kalajdzic (€2m from Austria‘s Admira Wacker, now an established international with a €25m price tag) and Croatian full back Borna Sosa (peanuts from Dinamo Zagreb and now a clutch of clubs are chasing him for €20m-€25m) amongst several others.

Oh and he signed unplayable maverick Silas from Paris FC too, and he’s ace.

Excited about this, whenever I've seen him play he's been superb!

Yes. I shall have a word with old Georgios.

Not surprised, Mangala is a cracking player.

Sounds like we should sign Sven too!

He is frankly amongst the BuLi‘s best Sporting Directors when it comes to unearthing absolute nuggets you’ve never heard of and turning them into superstars.

Stuttgart signed Ito initially on loan - I was present for his debut - and after about half an hour, the talk around where I was sat was akin to „hmmm, so, when are we going to sign this lad up properly then?“ he was that impressive.

We going to have a problem when all these lads shoot off for the AFCON?

EDIT: just realised that the AFCON is in Summer now and Mangala is Belgian and Niakhate is French...

Sounds like he was custom made for our midfield then and everything we target in a player.

Very tidy player, he’d be worth every penny

Stuttgart have played a flexible 3-4-2-1 or sometimes 3-4-3 or 3-5-2 under head coach Rino Materazzo, and yes, Orel would absolutely slot right into the Forest midfield given how they lined up last season.

He’s at his best when playing in front or alongside a holding DM, with a license to get forward.

Goddamit.
