Already love this guy. And seriously, Yates better than O'Brien? Nope, not a chance and that's not a knock against Yates, it's just clear that LOB is a much better overall player, a class above what we're used to seeing.

I think the point that's being made is some people are acting as if Yates has dropped to the bottom of the pecking order already, statistically Yates was the most impactful midfielder in the Championship last season (by some distance) and Cooper is a big advocate of him as a player and also his ability to adapt + improve

We now also have additional quality around him, hard to make extreme judgements considering the lad hasn't even had a chance at this level yet

different type of player , o'brien is very much in the garner mold , has the ability to dictate games by his passing , yates is more forward attacking , try to get the end of said passes and a heading threat in corners/free kicks

Came off due to fatigue according to Cooper.
I hope he's not pulling a Cooper with that one. I actually thought Yates was great coming on and offered more going forward, BUT when Managala was performing well Forest performed well, he was key to everything when he was on the pitch. Get this guy on form and already he looks like someone your teams like Spurs will be sniffing all over in a year or too. Like with Berge when he was on form and was linked with 50mil Arsenal moves.

He is someone who could be key for us, like Tielmons at Leicester (for the Belgian link not style) just someone who you could rely upon and trust. After not even two full games he already looks that impressive to me

I cannot lie, but, I would refer you to the second post in this thread, and maybe you’ll get why I was so annoyed that Forest poached him from the VfB.

The lad is absolute class. And he’s going to get better and better.

He does look like a PL player doesn't he. It is the difference that we just haven't seen in the players we have brought in in previous years.

I am just suprised with how physical he is, he doesn't look it. Again today he was very strong in possession.

He is a unit, and so difficult to knock off the ball.

Always loved that about him at VfB, opposing teams couldn‘t get the ball off him.

So he’s not injured? Just fatigued?

It is easy to forget he hasn’t had a pre season with us and playing his game in the heat at the moment when still getting to full fitness must be difficult.

Hopefully a rest will do him good.

He's certainly settling very well.

Some of his close control is crackers, in that he often looks like he's going to lose/has lost possession only to somehow appear out of the other side with the ball. He did it loads on his highlight reel too so I don't think what I saw yesterday is out of the norm for him.

Great mix of tenacity and technique though - I think he's going to do really well for us.
