Nicklas Bendtner: The Dark Lord has left the building

Sorry I'm not buying it. Whichever way you slice it he couldn't score when others were scoring around him. This time last year we were fourth highest in the league in terms of goals scored so it's not like we weren't creating chances. He was just shite at getting himself into positions and on the end of balls.

I can see how this conclusion was drawn based on stats, but the reality was something totally different.

If we're honest, there was little rhyme or reason to the Montanier approach & certainly nothing obvious to cater for Bendtners strengths for the 7 games he started.

Truth is the goals were spread as randomly as the approach.

Whatever his merits as a footballer he was absolutely gash for us and looked totally disinterested

Too good for the rest of Nottingham Forest!
I saw most of Bendtner's games, and in each one he was head and shoulders above the rest of the players around him.
For me, it was his arrogance that led to his downfall at Forest.
Many years ago my mates had a band.
I am not at all musically gifted - love music, and can talk about it quite sensibly, but haven't got the necessary to actually play n instrument.
However, at Uni I palled up with a semi-pro bassist.
He had played on European Tours with some reasonably well known acts.
So one day I got Paul to go and practise with my mates' band.
He was so far ahead of them in his musical education and technical ability that after an hour he put his bass down, suggested we all go to the pub where he attempted to explain what he had been doing with the bass lines.
My mates couldn't get close to understanding.
We had a few beers, had a good laugh and off he went.
He could never have played with my mates on stage and after that first embarrassing hour my mates knew they would never be able to complement his ability.
Shame.
For me that's what the Bendtner/Forest experience was all about.

Just met a Norwegian guy in the hotel in Athens. As soon as I mention Forest he's saying, we have a player from you, Bendtner, he's wonderful he's marvellous, he's one of the best things that's happened to our club and is taking Norway by storm.
WTF?

Did you tell him we have a few more like him if he wants them?

He's f***ing rubbish.
I kept trying to tell him that it was like watching a canal barge turn but he wouldn't have it. Doesn't say much for Norwegian football though.
It was nice to bump into someone again though, as soon as they ask you where you are from and you say Nottingham they say , oh that place where they set fire to women's toilets on railway stations and Forest.

I still stand by my view which I put on the first few pages, he is a good player dropped in to a dogshit side that didn't play to his strengths. No surprise he is doing well in Norway as he is a good player, just doesn't run around alot so people think he is shit.

He's playing for a chance to start at the World Cup with Denmark. His club form and effort has at times been patchy, but his performances at international level are always decent.

Pretty sure by the time he wasn't injured we scored f*** all as the team had already fell apart. The guy was quality but because he'd only been given like 4 starts because of injuries lets write him off. I'm surprised we haven't already started the Karanka out thread as let's face it, he's got a 0% win ratio with Forest.

He just didn’t look like he gave enough of a f***. He was obviously very talented and had a great pass or a clever position in him - he just couldn’t be arsed to do the hard miles in between those moments of brilliance.

Which is exactly why the Norwegian league suits him - he can be a passenger until the odd moment of brilliance presents itself
