This is fantastic news. Niakhaté looks like a real step up in class. And he's also obviously a leader on the pitch. Starting to believe we have a real chance of staying up.

Hopefully its Euros-£15M seems a lot to me for a CB.

Well we are sorted for central defenders-maybe we are going to put out an 11 of centre halves....
We certainly aren't paying that out for a bench player...

So it's not the medical per se, it's the pre medical announcement then. I was just wondering why you disliked players you g through the medical to make sure they can play.

99% of players pass the medical so it is just a formality, unless we take him to Specsavers..
Yeah sorry, it's all the "here we go" nonsense that happens when actually one of the most important aspects still needs to be done. I know it's generally a formality but sometimes players fail medicals and sometimes clubs get gazumped at the last minute, so until a deal is announced (or the journo knows it's actually signed) it a bit misleading. Even well respected journos like Fabrizio only say these things for the clicks. Essentially, there's no change today.

One less gobshite...
'here we go' is that journo's catchphrase just indicating that the talking about a deal has stopped and the actions that will conclude it have begun.

What's wrong with that?

Of course there is a change

If Personal terms & terms with a club are agreed the deal is done.

A player can have no arms or legs and he can still pass a medical, all medicals are is a risk assessment for the club. If the deal collapses now it's because we have pulled the plug, not any external factors.

Of the signings that were rumoured, this is one that really had me excited because I’ve seen this lad play and I really like him.

Interesting that it's a 3 year contract. Seems a bit short, but at the same time it's the length of our parachute payments.
