No league is foolproof when signing players.

But, also there is value in most leagues when you look.

You can point at Sancho, Haller, Marin and Werner and say “bundesliga players can’t make the step up… let’s avoid bundesliga players”

But then you miss out on Kompany, de Bruyne, Son and Berbatov.

This can be said for most leagues too. They all have value, you just have to be good at finding it.

Ruling any players out solely based on their league will just cut you off from a portion of the worlds talent.

It’s not foolproof, But if youre smart, make the right assessments, and get a bit of luck then you will find quality players from all over the world. Something. I do think our recruitment team have embodied this year.

So we're now discussing Samba on this thread?

More Non-Gibbs-White!
True, but who doesn‘t love a bit of Brazilian music?

I love the way folk are now trying to convince us that he was a poor keeper.

"all the mistakes" suggests an error prone goalkeeper who would have been jettisoned had we not been promoted.

Please do find us loads of "errors". And then compare to all these wonderful keepers in the Premier league.

I listed multiple positive qualities of his, and one negative...

If you can't think of any errors by Samba then you obviously haven't watched us much.

Imma start an official list of all the non-MGW topics that have been discussed on this thread:

3. Brice Samba
4. Latin American pop music

Would now be a good time to say that axing Mark Warburton for Aitor Karanka might not have been the masterplan the owners thought it was?

Only if you're suggesting that Mark Warburton - who has the middle name of Günther - is part of the MGW conspiracy theory.

Are you?

On the MGW convo - rather than the the last 4 pages - what would we rather (assuming identical salary):

Garner: £20m
MGW: £30m

Assuming we have signed Mangala aswell.

Garner but only just. What a special conundrum

Neither, both way overpriced on those figures. Sadio Mane went for around 30m, a proven Premier league goal scorer.

it’s tough because Garner has a comfort level with the system and we have seen him work well within it. MGW is arguably more creative and threatening in possession. Plus can cover as a CAM, but him at CM is more of a projection.

Think I’d go MGW because I think he generates more net points than Garner over a season. Like you said, it’s so close

What does this thread do to people? Was MGW forged by Sauron in the fires of Mount Doom? Because this thread sends everyone mental! Also, £30m for a player that can turn invisible? Carvalho already proved invisibilty was not an asset on a football pitch!

How much Gunter money is left?
Enough for a toffee apple, a midfielder from Germany, a lick of paint for the toilets in the main stand, a hologram number 10, a football stadium made out of lego in Derby, 10 pints of Ruddles for Ray, an oil painting of Fawaz and his family, an eye test for George Boyd, a trip to Bubbles for Crewton, some fireworks for 'uddersfield fans, a left back to replace the amputee Richards, some new king size bed sheets for you to paint on, some bin bags for tiffos, a Spanish left back, a goal scorer who may not be a goal scorer but could be a goal scorer, a trip to the barber shop for Brennan and Joe, a small rack of ribs in Hooters, Keinan Davis and one of Joe Garner's cheek bones, a start-up fund for Bonfires graphic design agency, the tram home after a quick dump in Wethz without buying a pint, a copy of Readers Wives and a single toilet roll.

And there will still be some pennies left over, rattling around the bottom of the Gunter jar.

MGW comfortably for me.

Agree. We could do with both - James has very good dead ball ability that we need - but I think MGW would give us that front half creativity that would blend well with Awoniyi and Johnson.

That said, maybe Lingard gives us that and therefore Garner would be the priority, lol.

So I'm going back to my original position - get both! It's only (someone else's! 😂) money. Both are good investments too.
