Played in the African Nations, gone to Luzern until the rest of the season. I'd put money on him leaving in the summer too.

Luzern eh? What a coincidence: we have a player on loan there as well (Nikola Čumić).

Those that went to the Burnley u23 game should get an "I saw Drager play" badge.

Where do me and theMrs apply to get the badges?
Yes, it was an U23 game, and yes, he was a bit rusty, but he did show enough to make us think he would be a decent squad player.
With our injuries and lack of cover on the flanks, I am surprised he has been allowed to leave , even if it is only on loan.
I doubt he will be returning though.

In his first three matches in Switzerland he has two goals and an assist.

Yet another dodgy dealing. I refuse to believe our scouting and recruitment is that bad that we've signed about 40 players in the last few years that are not good enough to get near the first team or to be played once and then disappear.

The whole recruitment team changed in the summer, so though we have to take the past in to consideration, this is a brand new team.

The moneyball approach will see us pick up a lot of players on a free or low wages and if they are not up to scratch will be moved on quickly, it is how it works. But because these players are free or cheap on most likely low wages and at a good age, moving them on shouldn't be too much of an issue.

If we got paid money for the Arab Cup as well as the AFCON, he’s more than paid for himself

What an absolute waste of time that all was. Unless there was a different reason beyond what we know for him moving here...

Hopefully this is the last time we have to deal with this weird coming and going from Greece that we've had over the past 5 years.

Still don't know who he is, how he got here, and why/how he left.
It's one of those were if you miss the "transfer in" news bulletin, you hear about it only years later.

Unfortunately it's just one of many over the past 5 years where we basically had no recruitment team it seemed. Our transfer policy was either sign from Olympiakos or see if Mendes has a player who needs a home.

Although I don't believe for a moment our recruitment was as bad as people make it (Samba, McKenna, Colback, Cafu, Grabban, Lolley, Garner, Figuereido, are from the sign from Olympiacos/Mendes era,) I do agree recruitment has improved leaps and bounds under Dane/Cooper.

I know that Nuno that I know that Nuno that I know
I think he was another player going to be out of contact al Oly so they sold him to us for a ‘nominal’ fee which we then recover through other means.

I'd argue there that some of them (Grabban and Colback) didn't require a huge deal of scouting and that others were from Olympiakos and Mendes or people linked to him and just happened to turn out OK. Figgy and Cafu have been decent I suppose but it seems to me like in those days if we give enough bullets one or two of them will hit the mark.

Couple of them were good finds though I'll grant you that, makes you wonder why they couldn't focus on looking for players like McKenna before. At least they've learnt from their mistakes now so 70 odd players later 😆

I suppose in amongst all the dross of the old system, there had to be one or two who were good enough. But when you think back over the years, the walking wounded and old has-beens who popped out for the odd game indicate just how bad our recruiting was.

I suppose, so far, the major improvement in transfer dealings in the last couple of windows has been a very high and successful hit rate.

Don't get me wrong, Dane (and/or Syrianos?) is a marksman of recruitment, especially compared to the previous--scattergun--approach.

He is. I read a while back that Luzern had decided not to take up their option, iirc because of the financials (though I could be misremembering) so he may well be 'home' soon.

Him and Laryea can fight it out with Toffs for Lodi's spot. Oof!
