This. We don't need to spend loads of money, our first and second choice strikers are good enough. Spend the money on a keeper and a winger - especially if the rumour about Elanga's injury is true.

Sorry if I missed it, but is Origi going anywhere? Personally, I don't think we need another no 9: Taiwo to come back; Chris Wood doing Chris Wood things. I know he missed a couple against Blackpool, but isn't Nuno's preference for a smaller squad?

Yeah. We've already got the role of old useless striker covered, don't see how Batshuyi adds anything beyond Origi.

Kinda feels like throwing more money at a name then someone who has been performing of late. Kinda like we have been doing for a while but hoping this one will be the one......

If it is a loan with compulsory purchase then we have learnt nothing from last Jan window.

Let’s face it, awoniyi will get injured again before the end of the season, Origi is dead in the water, we can’t survive with wood alone, on loan with a 4mill option I cant see how batshuayi would be that bad an option? He’s played with half the Chelsea lot we’ve signed, has played and scored regularly and recently for Belgium… he’s no che Adams but I’m all in for it!

This makes way more sense.

If Origi goes, then we’re left with two strikers who have both had serious injuries within the last year. One of which is yet to return to the team, the other is playing his best football in 3 seasons. Who knows how long they’ll both last?

I know Nuno said he wants to work with a small squad, but that doesn’t mean he can.

Think of it like biscuits. I want to eat 4 whole biscuits, however, some of them are broken. Do I eat 4 pieces of biscuits, or do I eat 4 biscuits worth of pieces? If you want to be full, you go for the latter, and reduce the risk of being hungry later.

Next time you go shopping, you buy better quality biscuits, but for the time being, you do what you need to.

Add in that every stage of being full adds to £2m to the shopping budget, and you’d be daft not to spend £1.5m (wages) on a new biscuit, rather than starving later and ending up falling down the (league) stairs, especially when they’ve just been polished with FFP and there is oil everywhere.

24 biscuits and a few biscuit pieces will still fit into a pack of 25, especially when they are fresh and haven’t expanded with age e.g. the tasty fresh biscuits such as the Murillo’s.

If you can’t tell…I’m hungry 😂

Can I just say that £3.5m per annum is repugnant.
It sums up what is wrong in football.
He’s won nothing of note and in 12 months is paid more than I was paid in a lifetime.
And I was in a decently paid job.

I don't think we'll be in for a striker to be honest. With Taiwo almost back and Wood seemingly finding some form, combined with us playing 1 up top, then the need for a new striker dissipates some what. In an emergency can always pop CHO, Elanga or maybe even Dominguez up there too.

We don't need over the hill 30 year olds for low transfer fees any more, need to buy assets who can do a job and appreciate in value. Not my job to find them though.
