A wonder why his deal was offically announced, yet the deal for Sammy wasn't?
There was an interview with Ameobi on the Athletic this morning, talking about his new deal and mentioned that Daws had also signed a new deal. Thought it was strange that neither had been officially announced, and now I see the article has been edited to remove the bit about Daws; wonder if he published it a bit early?

Wasn't Sammy's an extension (1+1 contract?)
Should be back in the team and captain for me. We miss actual leadership.

Same with Sow but everyone would still have him in the team.
I was referring more to making him captain
He was captain when he played last year though. And wasnt when he didnt.
I know but that's not an ideal situation is it?
You need consistency with your captain
Agreed but I'd rather have strong leadership in 50% of games than none at all
Playing the next half dozen could save SabrinaProblem is even as first choice Dawson isn't going to play forty games a season, probably only half that

We need a real leader on the pitch and Michael Dawson is a real leader.
Not only can he fist pump, he can bloody well play football.
Yates can fist pump, but can't lead through his playing ability.
Grabban can't even fist-pump.
To be fair on Grabban he's only been captain for two games
Grabban can't even fist-pump.
That shouldn't be held against him, or anyone for that matter. He's not been in the best of form since the return following lockdown, but he's always made the runs whilst having questionable service. I'd be more concerned if he didn't try to get on the end of the chances he's missed. In my opinion, leading by example and not hiding are far more important qualities of captaincy than fist-pumping. Any f***ing bluffer can do that.
It's the 'questionable service' that concerns me more than the ability of Grabban. Apart from Freeman, we have done nothing to improve that creative input and I still wait for Sabri to show that he understands the importance of putting the opposition under pressure rather than just launching counter-attacks occasionally.
I'm not pretending that I know more than our manager (as others on here have mentioned repeatedly, I patently don't), but I wonder why this missing link in the team has been pretty much ignored.
