Re: Michael dawsot

Forest should have put a clause in regarding caps but then again knowing Forest they most likely haven't

Posts like this make us look a poor outfit from League 2 that have winding up orders every month.

No they don't, they make us look like a club who got stiffed for a couple of international players because we were desperate for cash at the time. Another mil for dawson will help us towards what they were actually worth and perhaps a couple of decent loans for the rest of the season.

How is any player playing for his country relevant to a transfer that took place between two clubs? Spurs don't benefit in any way from Dawson playing for England; in fact I'm sure they'd argue that the opposite is the case.

Sometimes there are add on fee's related to International caps.

Shrewsbury got about £500k from Man City when Joe Hart made his England debut, as that was a pre agreed clause when City signed him.

Alternatively, during the negotiating process we might have got Spurs to pay more up front and less in clauses that wouldn't come in for years.

Re: Michael dawson

last night was his third cap anyway, I'd imagine any clause would have been based on the first one.

Aside from blindingly obvious answers like the player's value going up, the player perhaps improving as a player by playing with top players and gaining experience against international opposition whom they might come up against in European competition? No, there's no benefit to Spurs at all!

How is it blindingly obvious? Premier League players are regularly playing against (and also with) top class players anyway. The standard of the vast majority of international teams is no higher than that at Premier League clubs and in many cases is much lower. The small group of elite footballing nations play England that rarely that most England caps (especially those gained from playing in meaningless friendlies) would not be of value to Premier League clubs in the way you suggest. You also have to take into account the potential injury risk and, some would argue, fatigue.

Re: Michael dawson

It's pretty common practice to agree a payment based on either a first cap or a number of them - it's nothing really to do with the advantage to the buying club, but mitigating for the loss of the selling club.

They will agree to a reduced transfer fee with the understanding that if the player turns out to be good enough to be capped (which might not be apparent, particularly when sold so young like Daws, as an example), then it's ratification of that player's calibre and therefore an extra payment.

Sounds sensible to me.

Got a good reception from our fans when he was warming up during the match last Saturday. Never imagined he might be returning.

Does this mean Worrall is on his way?

Or he thinks Mancienne isn't up to it.

We will find out in a couple of hours I suppose! Would be great to see Worrall & Dawson together though.

I gave him a proper clap, I did notice he clapped a challenge that Worrall did on a Hull player which I had to laugh at.

Hope not, but the money for these massive number of new players has to come from somewhere....

If Burnley come back in with a bigger bid, I can sadly see him being sold. Especially if we sign two CBs (Dawson and the Portuguese lad) and the talk of Mills moving has gone very quiet...
