Memories of the 2013/14 season

This season we have played some fantastic football and been at both extremes - on an unbeaten run and on an excruciating winless streak

What memories of this season will you take away?

For me it will be the 5-0 against West Ham on ITV showing the world our club means business and can mix it up with the best of them (unfortunately this was about the time everything went tits up after!)

My favourite goal of the campaign has to Matt Derbyshire's wonder goal

Unfortunate injuries and suffering at the hands of the Scot saw us slump at such a crucial time but until the winless run, and what I'm going to remember, are that there were times this season that we were truly unstoppable

Good....shutting the Leed's faithful up with Derbyshire's super strike.
Bad.....utter, utter deflation at Bramall Lane

But hey, thats football. !

Jack Hobbs headed goal against the Sheep-Shaggers was my highlight.

Such a damp squib. SMC getting a 100% out of some of the pub players down the road after the shocking job he did here hasn't helped either.
Add to that my real dislike for some of the players wearing the Forest shirts that might be here next season I've pretty much hated it.

Best - We beat Yeovil 3-1 just days after securing Jack Hobbs and David Vaughan for the rest of the season, Djebbour scoring on his debut. The win left us 2 points behind Derby with a game in hand and just 3 behind Burnley. Momentum, strong after January, what could stop us?.....

Worst - Turning on BT Sport for our FA Cup replay at Preston to hear that Henri Lansbury would join David Vaughan on the sidelines for 3 months.

Most memorable - Sheffield United away. We were just blown away in the last half hour, constant bombardment from the Blades, the whole ground in full voice. Fans on the pitch after each goal and at full time, belting out 'The Greasy Chip Butty Song'.

The Lansbury and Vaughan injuries coupled with the Hobbs debacle then subsequent injury after about one more game was a disaster.
It's The pathetic excuses for Championship footballers that have replaced them have left a real sour taste in my mouth though.

The good bits:
Derbyshire's goal again Leeds scum. Patterson's hat trick against West Ham. The home game against Watford.

The bad bits:
The infighting at the club.
The key board warriors who never stop moaning (it's infectious I've joined in now)
The long, long injury list.
The 5-0 defeat at Derby - I never saw that coming
Yet another manager being sacked.
Millwall at home.
I could go on. This has turned into a rubbish season.

Who will BooBaby boo?
For me it's watching two games and seeing us win both 1 - 0.

One we won with less than half the possession, the other the opposition played like they were from at least a division below us.

My other memory of 13/14 is that we swapped managers again in the continuing desperate search for the Prem. That counts as a self-fulfilling prophecy IMO.

Favourite match was the 2-0 win away at Leicester. Great party atmosphere, solid defending and the first time the new signings began to look like a unit.

Worst moment - the moment I learned Lansbury, Vaughan, Hobbs (& Reid & Lichaj) would be joining Cohen and Wilson on the injured list.

Positives - Lascelles and Paterson, Fawaz's financial backing

Negatives - ground hog day with impatient fans and owner and yet another managerial sacking.

The victories over Christmas especially Boxing Day against QPR who we made look nothing better than average and the super goal from Matt Derbyshire against Leeds were the highlights for me. Plus Jamie Paterson who has proved to be a great signing.
The lowlights:
1. Billy Davies and the press gang saga
2. Injuries with no contingency plan when we should of had one
3. Ineffective strikers, especially Simon Cox
4. Algerians
5. Derby thrashing us
6. Sacking BD and giving the temporary role to an inexperienced manager
7. The realisation that we are nothing more than an average Championship club

Cash is King!
The Good
Matt Derbyshires goal and the game at home to Leeds
The 5-0 victory over West Ham
Leicester away

The Bad
The inept home performances against Millwall and Charlton
The endless injuries, now becoming a comedy.
The Davies Saga and infighting.

The Terrible
Being destroyed and humiliated at Bramall Lane.
Watching our shirt and name disgraced at Pride Park.

Best served cold
Just an insane amount of moaning, and the press being treated to the red carpet as being more important than what forest do on the pitch
