Shame we didn't have him at the start of the season.

Good keeper IMO, miles better than the other two clowns we've had in goal this season.
World's apart Ash.

Yeah, somehow 20 players with years left on their contracts will all leave for nothing, leaving us with no money in transfer fees, and a massive wage bill and bloated squad, all at the same time.
Well, for one they may have release clauses and secondly we might not be able to afford them anyway. Given that even with parachute payments we might not be able to afford them with EFL FFP limits, we could easily lose the likes of Sels, Murillo, MGW, Wood, and would need to sign more replacements in a hurry.

It was like the time we had to sign players in a hurry because we got promoted with 5 loan players and 3 of the first team moved on.

Oh yeah, we'd have to sell players and bring the wage bill down. Probably quite a few if we're to keep within FFP. But in doing so, the more we sell, the more money we'll raise and the more we'll bring the wage bill down.

My point isn't that everything will be hunky-dory - financially things could get very tricky. More that it can't possibly be the case that we BOTH sell absolutely everything that moves, AND retain a massive squad/wage bill. It'll be one or the other, or somewhere in between.

(Of course EM would immediately buy another 10-15 random players so yeah we probably would have a massive squad still 😜)

They said on the broadcast yesterday that Sels has a lower save percentage than Turner? Is that true (yes I'm too lazy to look it up, deal with it)

Turner made lots of saves, people crucified him for the mistakes and the inability to kick the ball.

We've defended better in front of him imo so it could be, though I'd say that's down to the keeper too really - calmer, better with feet and instills confidence as a result.
Still like to ship three goals a game though.

I know the answer but I'm not going to tell you. If you want to find out, look it up

Supporters expect a goalie to make saves, so unless they are world class, how did he do that saves they are soon forgot.
Supporters don't expect a goalie to make errors that result in goals conceded.
so every one is emblazoned on every supporters memory.

Yep.

According to the knicker wetters we'll lose all of our decent players. Complete fire-sale.

Except that doesn't happen.
There cannot be a fire sale: we will be obliged sell players where fee+salary saved -net book value = Profit.
We will not be able to take any losses.

Why do I keep getting the feeling he's going to drop a clanger when everyone least expects.

Perhaps it's buried in the subconscious due to the previous 2 incumbents in the role.

He's shown glimpses of the spectacular as well as the bread and butter stuff together with pretty handy distribution.

A no frills all around GK with no dramas so far who you hardly notice and doesn't make you stand up everytine the ball is near his feet. 5m looks a snip so far.
