Arsenal discuss Raya next steps​

Internal talks continue at Arsenal on next step over the potential signing of Brentford goalkeeper David Raya.

Arsenal are expected to formalise their interest in a player they have a long standing interest in. Brentford boss Thomas Frank says he would like to get £40m for Raya.

Raya has entered the final year of his contract. Arsenal tried to sign Raya in the summer of 2020, but saw a number of offers rejected. It’s thought Mikel Arteta wants Raya and Aaron Ramsdale to compete for the number one spot.

As it stands, 21-year-old Estonia keeper Karl Hein will remain at the club as third-choice goalkeeper. Hein is highly thought of at Arsenal and one for the future.

It's only nailed on if we aren't just using his name to flex with United over Henderson - looks very much like we are forcing them to blink?

Whether Arsenal sign Raya or not, they are going to have to lower that £18m price tag considerably before we should consider signing Turner.

I don’t think we are to be honest. I think we just prefer to spend 12-15mil on a keeper as opposed to 25mil plus. And I’m not taking sides on the merits of that, and the merits of Henderson over the other touted names.

My take is different - I think we'll end up with Henderson.

I've no horse in the who's better race - thought Turner looked decent on the couple of times I've seen him (which is nowhere near enough to make a judgement on a GK).

The article just posted in the Mavropanos thread implies Arsenal are going to submit a bid in the region of £15mil for Raya.

Not exactly £40mil and less than they are reportedly after for Turner.

That'll get laughed at if true. They turned down £30m from Spurs earlier in the window as they demanded £40m.
