Re: Marcus McGuane

His not always played been on the subs bench. But has got a few assists, I think the fact oxford are in a relegation fight by the looks of it may affect his progress. In hindsight with watson going to charlton should have sent him there atleast he could have learnt a thing or 2 off him

I only watched the one game, in isolation- which was, of course, a cup game. But he looked outclassed up against former Sheff Utd midfielder Louis Reed and former Man Utd youngster, Ethan Hamilton - who themselves, haven't been first choice options for Peterborough this year,

Seems to be getting rave reviews recently. Hope we've not forgotten about him.

Re: Marcus McGuane

I have a fair few Oxford Utd fans loved him pre season then dropped off a cliff but has comeback with a great performance today against Burton...Time will tell, I got a text today from a mate saying he needed a few games to settle and now is showing his quality.

Given that I know exactly when 12 weeks are up because that is when I shall be reporting for my second covid jab, I reckon Marcus will be fit and raring to go next pre-season.

Here's hoping yet another player who is good enough to feature for a top Spanish club is good enough for Forest.

When you say good enough, you mean he sort of training with the reserves and got the odd game?.
A bit like the Ex Crystal Palace lad (John whatshisname) we had last year?

I don't mind us taking punts on some of these potentially "overlooked" kids, every now and then you unearth something good (Matty Cash for example)and as long as their attitude is OK why not given them a chance. Financially speaking its pissing in the wind compared to the grand larceny of say, Carvalho and you're probably just as likely to get a result....

Did you get out of the angry side of the bed today?

Oh, don't worry. He doesn't know anything more than I do, just making it look that way.

Would be disheartened if CH was not in charge, if he thinks it's for the best think we either have or are looking at better quality for that position.

Re: Marcus McGuane

Wasn't impressed by his performance for Oxford against Peterborough earlier this season.
Lamouchi clearly had him pegged as a potential future for the 'Watson' role in his system - but that role doesn't seem to be part of Hughton's thinking, so we move on.

Aye. It's a start at least, and an early one at that.

Let's hope that such culling continues, and it gives Hughton enough space & funds to sort this mess out.

Seems like an odd decision to me, but they must have been very unimpressed to get rid of him so quickly.

At least someone wanted him though and it's a salary off the wage bill.

Shame he never got a chance here, but I trust that Hughton has kept tabs on him and feels that he isn't what we need before this was green lighted.

Ah yes, very odd. We bring in a player for the future, he doesn't turn out to be part of our plans so we sell him on for a profit.

Its an interesting one because what we have is a player that none of us have seen play (save perhaps the odd person who may have seen the odd game), we have no idea how he trains and what he's really like yet we're sad (me too) he's moving on.
Guess we are all instinctively seduced by the stellar clubs even though he's only been at academy and age group level.

I wish him luck, it must be a hell of a hard journey as a young kid/adult navigating the choppy waters of professional football when nothing seems to stick....
