Manhandled by Stewards and Police

Whilst you lot are talking about the police, has anyone actually checked to see if The Vicar is alright after this ordeal?

That's not the traffic wardens fault though, that's the fault of the council that chooses to put rules in like that.

That's true as well, but I can't feel bad as it's a well known fact that all traffic wardens are battery-farmed zombies genetically modified to have no heart and fail to comprehend anything resembling empathy; whose stock response to any human interaction is; "Sorry mate, rules are rules". "Mate my wife's giving birth on the pavement". "Sorry mate, rules are rules." etc. etc.

I've found that by parking legally, you never get tickets.

I've never got a parking ticket when going to Forest matches.

But then, that's possibly because I usually get the bus!

Never see the point of parking on the street near county's ground like so many do when it's only a few pounds to park in a car park.

I seen somebody's car getting towed away a few weeks ago for parking on a junction near trent nav. But I've seen cars parked in the same spot many times before and after that have not been given even a ticket.

Usual patsy responses about police just doing their job. :blahblah:

If you have to make an example of someone, why pick the short, fat, bald, ageing man with a heart condition and drag him out of the ground for the despicable crime of believing that paying £50 for a matchday ticket might entitle you to stand up and sing every now and then?

But yeah, they're in day glow jackets so they must be in the right...

That's life in this country, people pick on the ones they think will not have a go back. But we have people who jump up straight away with they're doing their job, he shouldn't have been doing this or that. It's like when you was at school, teachers only rang up the parents of the kids who they knew would listen and go along with them. Try ringing up some of the kids parents who probably haven't even got a land-line would just tell them to f**k off.

It's better than the usual idiotic responses of "they're in day glow jackets so they must be in the wrong'.

No context in the clip at all, besides some comment from a forum. He could be a ********** on the run for all we know, yet the people seem to want to stick up for him.

When I was part of a group being trained as stewards for the Pope's visit last year, this fool of NVQ assessor asked what motivated us to train for this job..( Think about where and why we were doing it ? ).......My answer was that I picked on at home by my wife and kids, that the only chance I have to hit back was the power to bully defenceless old ladies at Crofton Park, protected by a high vis jacket !, everyone laughed but the Trainer, he told me we had signed up for very serious job and had to have the right attitude.

Judging by the level of competence needed for NVQ level 1, Stewards are brain dead morons!.

GMP statement following incident at Etihad Stadium

Chief Superintendent Gerry Donnellan said: "Just before half time during the match between Manchester City and Aston Villa on Saturday 15 October 2011, club stewards and security requested the assistance of GMP as, in line with their rules, they were asking a man in the crowd to leave the ground because he refused to sit down.

"Officers only assist if there is a breach of the peace or if there is a likelihood of a breach of the peace occurring and in this case there was one; stewards were struggling with the man and other people in the crowd.

"The man was arrested on suspicion of causing a breach of the peace, but de-arrested when the breach of the peace had ceased.
"He was seen to collapse and paramedics attended, where he was given a clean bill of health.

"Two men were arrested on suspicion of common assault after incidents with stewards. One was later charged and one was given a Fixed Penalty Notice.

"The force's Professional Standards Branch has received a complaint from a third party and will respond in the appropriate fashion in due course."

Got some context now. Kick the guy with the heart condition out of the ground! He keeps standing up!! PROTECT THE CHILDREN!!!

Ground regs imposed by the powers-that-be do mean that clubs who allow persistent standing are fined... which means they have to be seen to act. I don't imagine they have the health records of every person in the ground. If the dude had just sat down when asked, it would've gone away.

Another thing I don't understand is, bearing in mind it was so a pressing case as to require the use of ten, twenty, thirty fluorescent jackets, why was the fella "de-arrested" after the fuss died down?

It's fine to lay the blame at the feet of the guy who committed the breach of the peace (by sitting down and saying "I have a heart condition"......) but could the situation perhaps have been handled better by the prats in hats?

Did the police ask him to leave before they got heavy handed? What were their reasons? Why did he refuse? Did he break the rules/law? How many times had he done so? Did he have a record? Did he have a history of such things?

Do you honestly believe that they decided to randomly pick on an old man for no reason whatsoever? Why hasn't he sued them?

Based on the video, I can't tell what was going on, just lots of shouting and squawking.

I do have a mate who works for GMP and often polices the football at Man City, so I'll ask him. Rather unhelpfully, though, he thinks that all footballers and football fans are chavs and scumbags.
