Lewis Grabban

Fantastic news. Grabban has proven time and again that he’s a quality player at this level, even if the impatient armchair managers on here don’t think so.

If we have any designs on promotion at all then we need to keep our best players and he’s one of them.
Impatient? 3 goals in 15 games is it? By one of our most highly paid (allegedly) and experienced players. On top of that he runs round (well barely) with a face like a smacked arse.

But let's have a go at the fans for not being happy with him missing open goals .

Zidane was both vocal and liked to direct his team mates.

Messi is the greatest player that ever lived and inspires through his sheer genius.

Lewis is a 2nd division striker who shouldn't have been made captain for the points I've already made.
Messi isn't a patch on Lucas Akins mate

The manager and coach aren't on the pitch.

If you'd ever played with a proper captain- a vocal leader who can direct those in need of direction and be the managers voice on the pitch, we'd probably not be having this discussion.

Suffice to say Lewis isn't that man.

If we had a player like that in the team, would he stop doing all those things because he didn’t have a piece of elastic stretched round his arm?

The captain does the coin toss, that’s all.

Leaders lead regardless of who is wearing the armband.

Grabban was an obvious choice because of his excellent record last season and because he's probably going to be the most experienced player on the pitch. An excellent example for the other players to look up to.

I often agree with you Ravi, but not on this occasion. He's the least suited experienced player I have seen for quite some time.

The experiment is past its use by date, it's a failure both for the team and for Grabban himself. Time to call it off.

Fair enough, I dont know what goes on in the dressing room to know how respected or not Grabban is. I dont think who's captain on the pitch is particularly important other than to toss a coin. Leadership needs to be distributed throughout the team. The manager is the one directing them from the touchline.

If he was missing chances and going round laughing and joking with his team mates he'd get slaughtered. It just shows how a player who did remarkably well last season, with f all service, is now getting pilloried because he's having a barren spell, which all strikers do at some point.

Sometimes the captain is the most respected man off the pitch.

The one who everyone else goes to for wisdom and a little chat when things get rough.

He's 32 years of age. I think he's a solid pick for the captaincy, having heard him speak before.

I also think it may be weighing on his shoulders a touch to have the captaincy label. That would be my only reservation.

He played practically every game and was the focal point of all our attacking efforts. 15 to 20 goals is the minimum a player of his experience and record (that is why we also forked out the fee and decent wage for him too). 4 penalties in that too (which still need putting away like). 16 goals from open play in 45 games is good, but let's not make out it is some superhuman effort.

Grabben has been a good signing overall for Forest. But the bloke is nearly 33, looks to have lost a yard of pace and isn't the sort of player to work his arse off for the cause even when he isn't scoring. I hope he turns it around and he scores another 20 this season but I honestly just can't see it.

Fun fact - according to Transfermrkt, Grabban has now scored more goals in a Forest shirt than for any other club.

Forest - 37 in 94
Bournemouth - 36 in 115
Rotherham - 21 in 47

Think I've understood what I've just read, but UK meds are donating a grand to charity for each goal Taylor scores.

37 goals in 94 games playing for a team that creates very little and still we have people who cannot wait to jump in to criticise him, whether it's from his goal return in recent games, his perceived style or attitude, his age or dragging up history at previous clubs and using it as a stick to beat him with.

I really wouldn't blame him if he wanted out to get away with that from some of the people who call themselves supporters of the club.

We've had some utter shite play in the Garibaldi in recent years. Grabban ain't one of them.

So how do you dress up 3 goals in 15 games & his current contribution then? If the player wants out everytime he's dug out he's in the wrong job.

Too easy to blame supporters, if you want to improve sometimes youve got to be honest. This applauding everything to be deemed a proper supporter is ok if you want to continue languishing in the second tier.

I thank God Chris Hughton will likely bring a different type of mentality.

No one s saying he is, just pointing out his current form is garbage. Is pointing out no goals in last 11 games unfair? Is pointing out that he's also missed a number of very good chances in that time too? Some of which, had they been taken, would have seen us in the play offs at least.

Sorry we don't fawn over him. He's no second coming, you know.

Nah, we've had so many 20 goal a season strikers in the past couple of decades that another one hardly registers. Success is falling out the woodwork at this place mate.

Dropped from the starting 11? Fair enough.

But having a striker who scored 20 last season not even on the bench? Seems self-harming.

Is he injured?

yes he is , he can stay injured till forest stablise. we can ill afford to carry passengers when there's already so many misfiring.
