Lack Of Strikers

I'd like us to get a creative type as opposed to a CF goal poacher. I think Fryatt will score goals with service from the likes of Reid, Paterson and Burke. Plus we have the goalscoring sensational that is Lars and can always get a Prem striker on loan if that goes tits up too!

Antonio and Pato would provide variety and flexibility in forward positions.
Antonio is a big unit. Reckon he could play more centrally.
With our history of buying strikers in recent years and our inability to get big money buys into the club I can't see a superstar striker coming. It will most likely be a cost effective loan or inexpensive punt.
Not sure I think that's the best approach as I do think we miss firepower but equally there aren't many obvious candidates. Maybe Chris Wood?

Maybe Tyler Walker will step up and take his chance? We have all bemoaned Cotterill not making use of Bamford, so maybe Walker could be a hidden gem?

At the rate we are going, it looks likely he will be playing on Saturday. If Mackie and Cox do both leave, it leaves Fryatt and Veldwijk as our only other two available forwards. So Walker will probably be making an appearance as a sub anyway.

He's not done himself any harm in friendlies, Walker. We'll see him be a pain in some team or other's arse before long

Pearce did say that Tyler was quite far from the finished article. But who knows, maybe in a year or two?

Wasn't he injured towards the end of last season?

Yes.

I can see Pearce doing with Tyler Walker what Derby have done with Will Hughes. Play him in the Youth Cup, play him in the 21s, but give him time to impress with the seniors. And hopefully next year he'll be a starter.

I think we should stop mentioning Wickham, I think he will be stepping up this season exactly where he is.

I'm worried about spending so much on assombalonga from posh as he's unproven at this level, making it a very expensive risk.

Wasn't that May lad going for peanuts? Watched him a few times last season and he would be a much cheaper and possibly better risk.

Missed opportunity. Still can't believe some fans at Christmas were like "nah, not good enough"

isn't that just another way of saying "a striker that doesn't score". remember folk waxing lyrical about cox's assists rate at one point.

stuff that, pacy and deadly pls - oh and young, cheap as chips and virtually indestructible while we're at it :)

We need a striker with Tyson's pace, Mackie's work-rate and Collymore's shooting.

Must be loads of them about, right?

Monday SP says we need to strengthen the forward areas. Wednesday we sell cox and Mackie leaving us with 2 fit strikers 3 days before start of season. Incredibly naive management I'm afraid but then what can we expect froma guy with SP's record. The squad is woefully thin and lacking quality. Anyone (Including the fools that run the club) that thinks we have any hope of finishing higher than 10th seriously needs a reality check. Yet again we all get the feel good factor and buy our tickets after being fed some spin then what happens. We sell 12 players (has lansbury gone yet)? sign 6 and we tell ourselves the squad is better. Guess what, it aint!! This happens every year and every year we fail. 2014-2015 will be no different.

Who have Derby signed Cenobite, I expect you will be there or thereabouts come May 2015, Cheers!

You've obviously not read any of my previous posts. Like everyone else on here, just because I have a different opinion and don't tow the company line, your default response is to slag me off. Oh well.
