With Cox and Mackie (lol) leaving, we now have two strikers, one being injury prone and the other a young foreign lad who needs to adapt and bed in. Pearce said we would bid for two players this week, one today who is presumably Antonio and the other later in the week.

Anyone slightly concerned with the lack of bodies up front? Do we not need two strikers now ideally?

I think we need one more for sure and Pato should be able to play there if needed, he may be worth a try there anyway??

We still have Dexter Blackstock too, of course, alongside Matty Fryatt and Lars Veldwijk.

We had too many shit strikers Miller, Derbyshire, Cox, Mackie, Henderson & Djebbour were pretty much next to useless as goalscorers and if we ship all of them out I would not be disappointed.

All of them could be replaced with Halford, that's how average they are.

I wouldn't disagree on getting a few more in though trading those 6 for 2 half decent strikers would be good.

We need one young winger as cover for Burke and one striker, ideally one who can play as both a striker (with or instead of Fryatt) or cover for Reid in the hole if necessary.

That's 7 shit strikers how can one team amass so much shite up front? You can't even blame 1 manager (which will please Alf) as there's Billy's, SoD's and McClown's in there. Can't even blame the TAP...

Bloody hell that list makes depressing reading...............and not bloody cheap, either. Maybe 6 mill in transfer fee's and God knows what on wages??? And nowt coming back when they leave. OI!!!!

To be honest I'm happy to get rid of all the dross and that includes Cox and Mackie. What we need is quality, not quantity and given we're only playing one up top may only need one more in addition to Fryatt and Lars

Don't forget James Demetriou, U21s striker who could have a shout this season.

There's still the Prem players to be loaned out. Reckon we could get Wickham, or a player of that standard in.

Fryatt is ideal, Veldwijk has been protected by comments about needing time to adjust. He will, but that doesn't make him useless now and the only way he gets used to the English game is by playing it. He'll feature heavily this season, we're just having our expectations managed. Blackstock is an unknown at this stage but if he recovers properly he's still a good option to have off the bench. Disruptive to a game without that being his only asset. He does score goals. Pato can play very far forward, he knows exactly where the goal is and we're better off him drawning the innumerable fouls he gets inside the box rather than outside. Walker will get run-outs and develop, Demetriou has been out of the picture this pre-season so we can't say anything about him.

What we have with Cox and Mackie off is not insubstantial. We've been promoted with a couple of good strikers and a couple for cover before, twice - Collymore/Lee/Rosario/Glover and Campbell/PvH/whoever else we had. I'll grant you there's two superstars in those lineups but in both cases and particularly with the Collymore promotion, it was the overall team performance that supplemented the goals - Stone, Woan, Bohinen, Gemmill, Pearce.

We have such players now - Pato, Reid, Lansbury, Burke, Cohen. could we do with another striker or two? Of course. And we'll get at least one, if it's Grolt, he's able cover. But Fryatt and veldwijk with talented youngsters or Blackstock to sob on for them, if the main two can remain fit, should be enough for our front line, if the rest of the team is cohesive, well tacticed and playing to their best.

I dont want to spend any money on strikers that will set our FFP back I dont want to be in a situation where we get taken advantage of again by selling our assets on the cheap. I would support a loan signing on a cheap wage. Thats the situation we have now.

I think we definitely need more firepower. I'm hoping the sales of Darlow, Lascelles, Mackie and Cox will pave the way for a man who will guarantee a shit-load of goals.
