I agree.
We’ve had a whole history of strikers though here with all sorts of characteristics but who can’t score. His goal scoring record is awful-it’s more like Joe Worrall than Lewis Grabban.
Strikers that don’t score are a waste of time-they put huge pressure on other areas of the team to compensate for that and the fact they don’t contribute on the score sheet eventually affects their confidence and the rest of their game.

The irony of the stats thing is we are likely signing him based off his stats, the whole point of recruiting on stats is to find hidden gems and recruit players that aren't being utilised correctly like we did with Spence. Davis has looked a pain whenever I have watched him.

I trust Dane and Coops and clearly the lad has something but we can’t be going into games relying on Brennan and Zink to score all the goals. Both are good but they should be supplementing the output of the 9 not filling in for him because he can’t score.

It's all about how we use him, if he's an effective hold up man it shouldn't matter too much about his goal scoring record. We have enough attacking players capable of contributing goals that we can surround him with. As long as he can make the ball stick it gives us another dynamic in attack

Besides, the biggest concern with Davis is that he is an absolute biscuit. It is, and in normal circumstances I'd agree.

To see the season out unit Murphs has can reshape the squad properly close season, I think these are the types of signings which we're gonna have to live with though. For what it is I can see the logic in it.

We're still undoing the damage of the past few years scattergun mentality, so I've no expectation this season other than surviving and being in a healthy position to push on in a few months. Easy for me as I'm not at games until very late at the season at the earliest :LOL:

Hopefully in the summer we can find a genuine Grabban replacement.

Some context to the whole appearances argument also.

Let’s not overestimate what you need in the Championship. There is a guy from Chile playing for Blackburn who in 80 games prior to this season scored 9 goals. But he is a big lad with abit of power and pace, found some confidence but has now notched 20 for the season already.

His record is dog shit but as I’ve mentioned numerous times I have full faith in Dane and Cooper so as always let’s see what he does in the Garibaldi (or the hi vis away shirt) before calling him wank.

Perhaps give the lad a chance before writing him off, but anyway, it's an opinion you're entitled to so, in the meantime, very happy new year mate.

It’s also why January is such a rubbish window. Generally it’s only the misfits and underperforming players that are available…added to kids with potential but no first team experience of note.

I really do think Davis will surprise a few on here. If he gets a run of games, his power and pace will be a massive asset for us.
