Keinan Vincent Joseph Davis

Notcher

Stuart Pearce
23 year old, 6'3 striker from Aston Villa. Linked with a loan move for him in January. His main attributes are his strength and hold up play.

He looked a prospect a couple of years back.

Isn't his record something like 6 goals from 80-odd appearances?

Sounds more like a defender to me.

He does appear to be another non-goalscoring striker, but if his strength is his link up play, he may well create chances for others and be something we don't have.

Let's face it we've been crying out for a Kieffer Moore/Sam Cosgrove/Matt Smith type tall hold up striker for a while now.

Wouldn't the likes of Lolley, Johnson, Grabban, Zinckernagel, Mighten all love someone to do the physical work and bring the ball down for them?

The problem is that type of striker needs a strike partner and we don't play with 2 up top.

The only reason to get him his to mix up the play i.e long ball when chasing a game or a poorer version of Adebola when you need the physical threat up top.

To give it some context 33 of those appeearences were in the premier league and I believe a lot of those overall appearances were as substitute.

Quite agree, this is another signing that if it happens will surely be an acid test for the new stats based approach where deep analysis shows they offer something not apparent through the blunt appearances/goals stat.

You'd have to think that Villa must see/have seen something in him when he signed a four-year extension in 2020.

Mind you I'm patiently waiting to see this Xande Silva chap we signed from West Ham who has a similar non-scoring record

Re: Keinan Davis

This doesn’t fill me with any enthusiasm. Especially if his main attributes are his strength and hold-up play. Other players can do that. I want to see strikers buying the ball in the back of the onion bag and his stats, as shown above, of only 3 goals in 72 appearances over the last 5 years or so indicate he’s not that good a striker. Unless Super Cooper can turn him into one I can only see him ending up in the bomb squad and we’ve spunked enough money in that direction over the years.

I wouldn’t be opposed to a player like that on loan as an Adebola style Plan B.

Re: Keinan Davis

he will be on loan , terminate tutu loan and get him in.

who do we have currently that is strong and can hold up play , certainly not our current strikers. we still have old men grabban and taylor upfront with davis as something different to offer.

Re: Keinan Davis

I don't understand.

I thought we wanted a striker to score goals. We have chaps to do the other jobs. Why buy yet another player to do the jobs already sorted?

Aged 23 with no real history of success some might feel that he fits the NFFC blueprint, but I think we've moved on to signing real footballers, not left-overs from the Prem table.

Re: Keinan Davis

My Villa supporting mate absolutely loves him. He's scored 3 in 3 for Villa's U23s recently- he's big and strong with the ball which is not something we've had since Ameobi left.

This is from a couple of years ago but I think he has a bit of the Michail Antonios about him.

Re: Keinan Davis

Seems the club have identified the pressing need for some physicality and height in the side.

Don't worry about lack of goals in such players - they're going to bring things to the side which we don't currently have:
1) Threat from set pieces
2) Ability to hold it up and release the pressure on defence if we're under the cosh.
3) Knock down's and lay-offs from longer balls.
4) Better ability to defend set pieces
5) Opposition likely to play with a higher back line to alleviate height threat, opening the door for pace.
6) Opportunity to play a different way if opposition requires it (when was the last time we went toe to toe with Millwall for example?)

We need a big strong ox of a striker. We're not going to get one with a great goalscoring record as well because those players don't really exist. Kieffer Moore has 39 goals from 119 games in his last four seasons at this level, and more than half of those goals came last season. It's a decent record but it's not prolific. Matt Smith's record is 37 goals from 171 appearances in the last five seasons at this level.

You're telling me neither of those are handfuls? I'd have them both.

From what I heard about Keinan is that he's great at holding it up, probably 10x better than Taylor anyway lol. Just need to work on his finishing ability.

Someone to play alongside Grabban maybe should we need to go to 2 up top as well? Might take a lot of the pressure off Grabban who gets through a hell of a lot of work up top on his own.

And, let me get this right .... he's a striker...... a 23 year old striker.... I'm sorry but that's a no from me. You've got to have shown that you know to bloody score if you're on prem wages as a forward. We don't have the time if he's a january signing to teach him
