Mehdi Zeffane (27 year old former Rennes right back, contract expired this summer) has been linked with Olympiakos.

He played a lot under Lamouchi, is mainly a right back but has played on the left side too and also as a winger on both sides.

Could be one for us.

You're learning... According to Greek media, he is close to signing for you.

You will be the "Greek media" when this is revealed in tomorrow's Post GBG.

OK, here's a link for the Post then: https://www.to10.gr/podosfero/superleague/673116/olybiakos-ochi-se-protasi-mamouth-gia-gkigierme/

Last paragraph: According to information from France, the international Algerian Mehdi Zeffane, released from Rennes, is a transfer target for Nottingham Forest and not Olympiacos. In fact, they say that it is very probable that the two sides will reach an agreement soon.

Modesto must have a long list of full backs ready: you're looking for two of them, we're theoretically not looking for one, but we must be ready in case Koutris (LB) or Elabdellaoui (RB) are sold, as has been rumoured.

Just in case, let me note another name, a left back this time, theoretically linked with us: Milad Mohammadi, Iranian international, 25, he has been playing in Russia for 3 years, also on a free. He hasn't been linked with Forest, but one never knows.

Incidentally, Zeffane was anything but unwanted at Rennes: they very much wanted him to sign a new contract, he decided to look for a future elsewhere.

I only take my Greek source and some international signings information from GBG and Karteo these days. Far more reliable.

Looks like we're being savvy with the market. Good stuff. Sure that we'll make the right choices with who we sign.

And regardless, I get a feeling Lamouchi will get the best out of any average players anyway.

Agreed.

Byram's exactly the type of quality Fox's biiscuit which we've put too much faith in during recent years.

We need to stop taking chances on such players in key positions. OK as maybe as backup, but if we're going for it, let's get the first choice folk in first.
