Rational & logical as ever Rzar.It is about staying patient, it's frustrating but you do have to wait for genuine quality sometimes. We were really patient with MGW despite the whole forum spamming everyday last year move on, move on, move on.
The closer the window shutting day gets, the more likely it is of any big deal happening - that's the reality. We play 3 games before the window shuts, two away to Man United & Arsenal - and the other at home to Sheffield United. For me, whether we get key players in or not - we are likely expecting the same points tally whatever happens from those games which is 3 points.
Unfortunately, this one looks unlikely too.Clearly knew Ibanez was down the toilet.
Nah, if your offering 20mil plus you shouldn’t be dictated too like that.Bids in from us and West Ham apparently. But they're unwilling to let him go til at least August 16th due to CL qualifying rounds.
Yeah major problem their, something will need to give between the two of them.I've read article after article with West Ham being cited as making offers or talking to or interested in and they've signed no one - seems like a real war going on behind the scenes between Moyes and DoF there - not the kind of situation any player would be comfortable walking in to so I won't see them being real competition for signings in the short term
It’s about to get messy! We could lose BJ but gain Anel.

I don't believe that is the case. The lure of CL from the likes of Ajax will almost always handicap us, but I can't fault the ambition in trying to sign players that will genuinely make us better. What is the point in targeting players who are arguably no better than those we already have.I hope they do actually have the funds for the type of players they are supposedly interested/probing/monitoring etc and not just hoping eventually a bid of 60-80% of the asking price is accepted.
No point going into Harrods with a fiver in the pocket.
Mostly it's been low ball offers immediately rejected. Presumably the player has been sounded out in advance of any bids? Surely you check if the player is willing to come over before making any bids.I don't believe that is the case. I'm not privy to the complexities and constraints of completing transfers at this level (or any for that matter), so if it's as straightforward as you say then fair enough.Mostly it's been low ball offers immediately rejected. In Sangare's case apparently they are willing to pay the fee but he's not sure.
If it's Nicola Jerkan you're referring to Captain, I think he moved away on loan until his contract here expired.I seem to remember another croation centre-back we bought, back in the late 90s.
He ended up sat at home in his home country, picking up a nice wage packet every week.
I wasn't aware we loaned him out.If it's Nicola Jerkan you're referring to Captain, I think he moved away on loan until his contract here expired.
Would be nice to keep BJ and gain Anel.We could lose BJ but gain Anel.

From my memory, he looked a shrewd acquisition by Frank Clark at the time, but he was an out-and-out sweeper in Croatia's system and never managed to adapt to playing as an orthodox CB. Given his composure with the football, FC even unsuccessfully tried him as a defensive midfielder.I wasn't aware we loaned him out.
I always believed he just went home and didn't do anything bar check his bank statememtnto make sure the cheques kept on coming.
P.S.: having checked, we are both right up to a point. He did 1 season with us when we bought him, and then did 1 season on loan. The final year of his contract he did just sit at home, because no one wanted to take him on loan. At the end of his contract (the third year) Charleroi picked him up as a free agent. He retired after 1 season with them. The story I heard was he played for Croatia in a European Championship match played at the City Ground. On the strength of that game, forest bought him. In 3 years he played 14 times for us, and never looked like a footballer in any of them.
To be fair he was 36 when he joined us, and his best days were behind him. From my memory, he looked a shrewd acquisition by Frank Clark at the time, but he was an out-and-out sweeper in Croatia's system and never managed to adapt to playing as an orthodox CB. Blimey, I didn't realise he was that old. If I did at the time I'd since forgotten. To be fair he was 36 when he joined us, and his best days were behind him.
