Joseph Adrian Worrall (The Club Captain!)

Burnley, Everton, Hull ..

I doubt that Everton would be interested and I can’t imagine Hull could afford him.
Burnley,who knows?
Worrall aside,if we are relegated I think this could be a real problem in that several players are
likely to be difficult to move on because of their high wages-always the recipe for disaster in
the Championship.
Let’s hope it doesn’t happen.

I agree with your points Cloughie, there was a more subtle note on the Everton's relegation and our survival in the post (will hopefully outcome ...)

But the point of an issue surrounding wages I do think will be very challenging.

He'll be back to captain us in the Championship next season after Felipe, Boly and Murillo all leave.

His services are only worth what someone is willing to pay. He's shown he's not a Premier League quality player, so he can hardly expect to continue to command a Premier League wage.

We need a player with Worrall's heart for the run in but unfortunately, like others before and since, he wasn't good enough for Nottingham Forest.
I don't think that's quite fair in this instance, Wes. Something clearly went down between Cooper and Worrall, which led to his departure. Club captains don't leave to Turkey in January unless something goes wrong behind the scenes.

You're quite right Zeus, the point I'm trying to make is that players such as Worrall are much maligned for not having the talent of players like Murillo, yet look at how badly missed they are when we're in a dogfight.
Our squad is seriously lacking in bollocks.

Bollocks is fine.

But when you aren't anywhere near good enough to be in the starting line up (and you decide to have a bust up with your manager) they arent much use.

We aren't where we are due to a lack of Joe Worrall.

Well, whether Joe's presence is missed or not, something pretty serious clearly went off between him and Cooper. In a matter of weeks, if not days following the win at Chelsea, Steve went from hugely praising Joe's character and professionalism in the aftermath of him tragically losing an uncle he was extremely close to, to, quite literally, banishing him - the club captain no less - from first-team training. As such, the decision to move Joe away from the situation (at least temporarily) was probably the correct one, irrespective of Steve leaving.

I think the way in which some of our fan base turned on him was a little disgusting, to be honest and indicative of how plastic and unlikeable as a club we've been this season.
  • This is the Joe that has been at the club since he was 11.
  • This is the Joe that came out as a young player and put a dressing room on notice on BBC Radio Nottingham.
  • This is the Joe that could have forced a move like many others have to the Premierleague early.
  • This is the Joe that threw himself to the ground to head the ball against Leicester when he had broken ribs.
  • This is the Joe that even after hearing the news of his uncle being seriously injured by a train, played the game against United.
  • This is the Joe that broke down in tears at the end of last season against Arsenal because of what staying in the league meant.
Maybe him and Steve did get into it, but what I can very likely suggest is that it came from being passionate about wanting to do the best for this club of ours. Joe might not be the most technically gifted centre back but f*** me, the club needs players like him and Yates. Players that don't just say they get it for clout, players that are intrinsically Nottingham Forest.

If we stay up this season, he's in the 25. If we go down, he's in the starting 11. I hope Besiktas don't take up the option because I think it'd be a really shit way for Joe to leave the club, under the circumstances.

I have been in many a team.

And the last thing a team needs is someone who lacks the ability of those around him and spends his time slagging off the manager, in a position of leadership.

Also, not been a team leak since he left I don't think. Make of that what you will

Haven't really improved since he left either though have we?
Relationships definitely broke down between him and Coops but I suspect strongly that that came from a good place, on both sides.
The last thing a team needs is people not giving a shit, I'm happy carrying weaker team members at work but anyone who starts taking the piss is getting it.
I make you right on the team leaks and that should have been sorted long ago. Food for thought, may e Joe was wrongly accused and that caused the rift? We don't know.

I don't mind carrying those with good attitudes and lesser ability.

But once that good attitude turns, it's poisonous (especially when it's someone who is/has been in a leadership position).

It's unfortunate, but as soon as he threw his toys out, he became a liability for the club as he didn't have the talent to offset it.

Joe was never as bad as you are making out, his attitude was a huge part of his contribution but like Yatesy, his ability was often under-rated for whatever reason.

He would be at Brentford had Frank not changed his mind.

He's a professional footballer, he'll go wherever the money and opportunities are.
Indeed so. In fact, Joe was honest enough to air his disappointment over that deal falling through following at least a couple of "positive" conversations with Frank. I can't recall who Frank eventually turned to instead of Worrall?

I love it how the consensus seems to be that Worrall, despite being a good dressing room influence, wasn't good enough and quality is the overarching factor.

But the same consensus opinion last season was that Lingard, despite being absolutely shite and on a tonne of cash, was a good dressing room influence and that he was worth the £100k a week.

You can't have it bother ways LTLF, especially given Worrall would have been a better dressing room presence than Lingard.
