I watched it in the end and agree with your summary. In the end I couldn't work out if he was playing daft or if he's actually a bit thick.

Did he try and say it’s not fair cause football has betting sponsors? Cause that is stupid argument if he tries that. The FA dosen’t have a problem with betting in general and if you are footballer you can bet on anything just not football. You aren’t allowed to bet on football because of the threat of match fixing which makes complete sense. I think that argument is stupid because it’s the epitome of whataboutery.

His basic premise was that he didn't understand betting was prohibited as other players were doing it.

He acknowledge that at the begining of every season an ex-pro is sent out to talk about gambling, he said its focus is on gambling addiction and as he didn't think he an an addiction, it didn't apply to him.

Fair enough, it’s one of them if you are speeding but are not aware of the limit you still get punished. It’s how it can only work

He was basically saying f*** Brentford in a night club Last year as well, he either has an extreme lack of self awareness or disrespect, or both.
